Never icefished here before even though my grandparents and now my sister own a camp on it. Plenty of summer fishing but never made the drive to ice fish. Only caught 6 fish all day, but the perch were huge and I caught my first Walleye. The 1st was 14" so he went back, but then I got a 16 1/2 and a 15 1/4. I was pulling the 15 1/4 as the game warden drove up. I let him make the call. "Keeper" he said! I caught the 1st perch on a tip-up with a mdeium shiner. Everything else I caught jigging with bibbits gussied up with perch eyes.

were heading out there for the first time next weekend, how far out were you, my buddy and I have Never Caught a walleye so were hoping to catch a few. fishing for 2 whole days so any tips will help.

Its all pretty smooth but there were small drifts. If it was me, I wouldn't, never can tell about them drifts!

Congrats! I think those are the best eating fish in VT. I fished Carmi on monday for 6 hours. I stayed in the shallows at the south end hoping for pike in the weeds. 0 fish but it was better than working.

my first walleye a couple of weeks ago 15 1/8 IT WAS LEGAL I KEPT IT!!. best tasting fish in VT?? the best tasting fish anywhere in my and a lot of others opinion

It has a little bit of everything mud bottoms, rocky points, weeds.

I don't fish past 9pm there, the bite just seems to die off. IMO the best time and most productive time there is 1st light or last light. We pick up a few Walleye after dark but most of the fish come right around dark.

Heading to Carmi again in the morning. After seeing a pic of the new State record, I'm a little embarrassed that I got excited over my catch from last weekend. I'll do better!

I fished Carmi on Friday. Straight out off the landing about 1/2 mile or so. Caught 2 walleyes and 7 perch fished from 1pm to 7pm. Had 2 fish on that were real nicelost both up near the hole before I could see what they were. I'll be headed back soon.

You guys must have caught them all. We tried carmi out yesterday for the first time. We spent the whole day and into the evening on the lake without even a bite. There were tons of folks setup around us with fields of tipups, I didn't see one person chase a flag all day. We were setup out and just North from the state park boat launch.

Yea, it was pretty slow on sat. We caught 4 perch, but my son had a big walleye on that he lost right at the hole. Still had fun.

Looked good on the underwater camera just couldn't get them to bite but going back with a vengeance next Saturday or Sunday.
