It just blows me away how suckers are that abundant in the Upper.

Well Joe, I hope you keep on catching those darn suckers- I'll even supply the next dozen worms but i'm sure you alone couldn't clean out the population of suckers in that lake which is to bad.. Next question is I wonder how they got in there?? Someone trying to fish with live bait? I don't think any of those mountain streams that feed Sunshine Reservoirs have suckers in them but I could be totally wrong..

So I guess what we should all do is fish for trout with one rod and with the second keep a line towards the bottom and see if we cant put a dent in the sucker population- I know there meat works good for all types of trout especially "LAKERS"...…….

I talked to a game and fish officer last year about the number of suckers in the Upper and he said at that time there were no plans to introduce any other species of fish to control the suckers. The way I understand it is that the check that was put in on the Shoshone river leading to the Upper a few years ago was installed wrong. It was to let water in but not fish. But now it lets both water and fish into the lake.

Maddog: The shoshone river doesnt flow into upper sunshine reservoir its greybull river or sunshine canal as they call it- So I really dont know where the suckers are coming from unless somehow the greybull river has them in it of which I didnt know..

My bad it is the Greybull river. But the new checks were installed wrong therefore that's how the suckers are getting in there.
