That little lake is over fished. it takes a pounding every year at the beginning of the season.

Oh Yeah.....That's a well kept secret !   That's if you love to catch your limit for perch !    I forgot to mention .....If you like your limit of 3 to 4 inch perch. Mayfield lake is a nice little lake...but so are most of it's fish.  :P

Lately, more and more Pike are being caught .....over 40" every year.....what do you expect with all those small pan fish swimming around. A few monsters swimming around....a few........  :tipup:

if you are that close to sacandaga ya might as well fish it.mayfield seems to get worse everyyear.we still catch fish just not as many as a few years ago.then you get 1 guy that catches a monster and it gets pounded.its good for a few bass few pickeral and a northern here and there.o well all good things must come to an end

came to an end three years ago,  i never used to see more than two other boats out there now there are at least 8 boats all day every day.  unfortunatly not everyone is catch and release minded.  I have lake access to keep my boat out there and pulled it off halfway thru the summer and put it on the sacandaga.  had much more luck out there this year.

yeah used to go over there to get peace and quiet from all the sleds and activity on the big lake..Not any more now you'll either have your tip ups run over by sled doing circles,or air planes landing on themand oh yeah not to mention the 60  people out there on any given day.....Collins pond the next honey hole!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! miriaville lake,round lake all the next honey holes..............Don't catch em all!!!!
