Hey guy's, I was at lewis point sunday afternoon till dark and got 3 decent perch. On my graph i could see the fish come in and look at my jig for a bit and then swim off. I tried all sorts of different jigs to no avail. can anybody clue me in on what i'm doing wrong. Any help would be great, it's a 2.5 hr drive to get there. Thanks!
In this day of technology, use your navionics and start picking apart the structure. Another reason that they are getting finicky may be the fact that that particular area has been getting pounded daily since the ice was safe to walk on. Guys have been off the point since late January. Once you can find unmolested fish, your bucket will be full. Keep plugging away!
C'mon, share some info. I do.

Good advice. Try to find fish away from the crowds. So....now that the slush is starting to tighten up, are we doomed for another snow event to restart the slop fest over again?

The later the lake freezes over the poorer the bite is. There will be good days here and there but in general that is the rule.
The experienced fishermen in the 6os said “if the lake does not freeze up by the first of the year  the bite will be slow.”.
There reasoning was that the water got too cold.     Just sayin....

I wouldn't be to concerned with the ice conditions now.  Yesterday was the best conditions I've fished on all year.  Around 10 inches of real good ice, slush frozen and very little snow on top.  Last night we got about 4 inches of snow and will probably get a little more this week.  We should have over a month of good fishing yet. Walleyes have been very cooperative where I've fished so far this year.

The water does tend to get colder when the lake is open because the waves keep the water mixed up more.

One might argue that the bite is the same either way but when it freezes early you can get on the good early bite.

Nice job Elrod.

Was nice to be there for my girlfriends first keeper eye ice fishing and from there she got her limit and the biggest fish of the day! Happy Valentine’s Day to the lovely Miss Elizabeth!

Congratulations you two. Miss Elizabeth, YOUR the keeper.

I generally find the whistle to be good for any species especially when morals are at the lowest  ;) just bring a couple out incase they are still to far away to hear the first whistle haha

Never. Stop. Whistling.
