Refrigerated a necessity?
« on: Jan 14, 2010, 05:06 PM »
I'm running out of my staple worms this year, and I am planning on buying 500 waxies from PETCO. The Mrs. wont let me put them in the refrigerator, but we have a basement that is around 50 F. I've heard mixed opinions on whether or not refrigerating them is a good idea. Would my basement work?

Keep them between 50 to 60 degrees and they'll keep a while.Bought  a bulk shipment in in late November.Just a few died. They're doing fine six weeks later.

Dont refrigerate waxies, most of them will die. Spikes need to be refrigerated, but waxies do best in a cool place like your basement. Like coboy said, 50 to 60 degrees is perfect
