Should be making some good ice up there now!!!!

Road trip Sunday, I'll send pics!
May God bless and keep you always, may your wishes all come true.
May you always do for others and let others do for you.
May you build a ladder to the stars and climb on every rung,
May your hands always be busy, may your feet always be swift.
May you have a strong foundation when the winds of changes shift.
May your heart always be joyful, may your songs always be sung.
May you stay forever young.

I'm looking out the window at the lake. About 5 degrees right now, lots of seasmoke but 2 foot waves are keeping ice from forming. The coves in Greenville are frozen out to the first islands. Have not been to Rockwood since last Friday so I don't know if there's any ice. Small ponds and lakes are locked up, I walked on a beaver pond deer hunting yesterday. Lots of snow, pretty close to 2 feet on the hills so walking is rough. Many deer are already yarded north and west of here.

The next door neighbor's kid got a nice one, two beers short of 200. All I've seen so far is legs while crawling after them in a swamp. Lots of bullwinkles as usual. As a bonus, parked the truck on a side hill one day and it slid into a snowbank/ditch. That was fun.

Damn, now I really wish I could make the trip and join you guys. after reading the report about the brookies resurgence in moosehead, I wish I had the option of going away for overnights and weekend long trips.

March is a looong ways off but i'm going to try and save 8# of Buzzel's hot venison sausage for shanty sandwiches. I love Mailholt's but this stuff is a worthy replacement!

You make the best shanty sandwich I ever had.

I’ll second that, Gary!  Josh and I still talk about that shanty breakfast.  Yummm.

All the food on that trip was amazing...

JRelaxin, that prime rib was to die for.

All of it, steaks, cusk chowda...dang.  I’ll be expecting updates on the fishing AND the food, gents!
Flags up, gentlemen!!!

As best I can tell the entire lake is locked. I hope to be drilling holes on the 1st, or very shortly thereafter.  :icefish:

Sounds like a great time. I’ve never fished Moosehead, but I’d love to give it a try. How do the guys without sleds or wheeers fair? Would there be any problems showing up late on Wednesday night, 9-10pm’sh?

Since the temperature dropped the lake has been singing day and night. This photo is a couple of miles north of Greenville, earlier today. A solid foot of black ice with no snow, courtesy of the rain zambonie. Edges are setting up and should be ok in a day or two.
Unfortunately we need to head south before the 1st.

Looks like there will be plenty of ice up there if there is not to much snow you can always drive your truck or suv out there
Go big or go home
