Marcum battery problem

I have a 3 year old Marcum M5 that was left on and the battery went stone dead.  Now it has been on the charger close to 30 hours and is still red.  Do I need a new battery?  If I buy a lithium to replace it do I need a special charger or will the one that came with it be good?

Definitely need a new battery, I'd buy the charger for a lithium if I went that route.

 That’s the battery I have and great run time in my older helix 5, I charge it every 30 hrs ,
