Need Ice Fishing Suggestions
« on: Dec 03, 2018, 09:59 PM »
I am from Huntington Indiana and just got into ice fishing last year. I mainly fished the salamonie at 105 bridge and Simpson’s pond a couple of times and only had luck at the salamonie. I am just looking for some lakes to try I am willing to drive around an hour to an hour and a half away. Don’t really need exact spots just some new places to try.

Thanks in advance!

Just drive north.  Once you get an hour or so north the options are almost endless.  So many good lakes close together that some get little pressure.  Tri-county and Chain O' Lakes are a couple good places to start.  Both have multiple lakes within minutes, good fish, good access.

Like RoeBoat says. Now's the time to do some recon. Find the access spots. Know the layout of the lake. Talk to the property managers. Have your equipment ready. Be patient and get out as much as you can. You'll probable find ice fishing can be more rewarding than open water fishing.

Lake Wawasee  is always a good option once it freezes.  Also, the Backwaters generally freezes up early and can produce.

Hominy Ridge just outside of Lagro has all kinds of panfish.
