there was one off simpson rd but its called washingah or something like that.  tiny little water that im sure gets picked pretty clean.  it used to get fished a lot thru the ice.  how big is this pond off 224?

It's been years since I've been there. Just a small pond on roush property. There was a time when the fish were nice. The pond seldom got fished other than thru the ice because it's a bit of a walk and fishing from shore was very limited. The reintroduce Otter is to blame for it's down fall. They got in there and wiped it out. Don't know if it ever recovered.

I use to fish that pond back in the early days before it became the hot spot for first ice. Some impressive catches come out of there. One new years day I was there at first light and by 10AM there were close to 100 guys on it. I talked to a group that came from Angola to fish, heard it was "the" place. I thought to myself why would guys drive 70 miles from Angola to fish a 30-40 acre pond when they have 101 lakes in their county? Not the fish there like in the past.

I live 2 miles from Simpson Ponds in Huntington. There are 2 ponds. The small one is close to the road. The larger one is or seems like a half mile
hike. It has been fished pretty heavy the last couple of years. Still has fish, but smaller and harder to find. Be careful on it. Several people have gone
thru in the last couple years.

Simpson gets a lot of pressure all thru the year. I've been there during hardwater season and seen 20-30 fellas out on the ice. There are people who haul their canoes, kayaks, and small aluminum boats back there to fish during the spring and summer. Several years past would get decent gills and crappie from there, the past couple years big fish have been few. The small pond that is closer to the road is shallow and does not produce large fish.

So far this year Simpson is not producing.  I've been fishing ponds over there for more than 20 yrs.  This is the worst winter for all the ponds that we fish there.  But than its been tough even on the farm ponds around me also.  Did great on Simpson end of Aug and most of Sept.  With the dry spell we had at the end of the summer Simpson went down almost 24".  It did recover in the fall during the closed season water wise.  It's 25 acres.
