I smiled a few times on my drive to work seeing the fog on the ponds.  Water temps are dropping!
That's some tasty iced tea.

I was more than happy to de-ice the windshield before heading out to work early this morning 😊

One of my ponds that is out of the wind has been frozen over for several days. Granted it's just plate glass thick but it's a start.

That said it will thaw with temps predicted in the upper 50's for a few days.

We seem to be in a Pacific air mass west to east flow trend which keeps temps on the mild side. However that doesn't mean the pattern can't change and we could get a trough that brings down some polar air.

I predict an overall mild winter with some brief polar air masses that will be enough to freeze things over for at least a short while.

14th looks alittle early for my area or any in Indiana but looking at the December temp predictions Christmas time period could start things going. With what I'm looking at I think I should dig the gear out and charge the vex and be ready.

Deer hunting sucked, resi high and muddy. I'm building a storage shed in this early fall weather. I'm not complaining but its not what I expected this time of year.

Next week below normal temps predicted.  ;) A trough bringing down cold air for the midwest is predicted.

Today it got up to 63 F. but the biggest pond never got about 36.3 on the surface. Ice has melted in the pond that was frozen over.

Better golf while you can mid next week starts a nice cold snap.  We will see if it has enough punch to lock us up with some ice.
