This day the 15th of November 2019 ..ice was forming on my local ponds edge ..same year December 20th had travelable ice on that same pond . This year had a coating of snow today ...we may get ice to fish on by Christmas ..but the first week in January is usually the kick off.

My early ice spots usually have ice by the end of November which I am hoping for but I'll play it safe and predict ice by the first or second weekend on December.

Average daily temp has dropped about 20* since late October and there is really no big swings in the 10 day forecast  I'm hoping it keeps going down   Just visited lakeside outfitters this AM and came home with some shinny new jigs as well as a Loomis jigging  rod   Nice little piece of equipment  and good folks to deal with  Had quite a snow squall in that area this morning

Usually between Christmas and New Years is a safe bet, but crazy weather this year could make it go either way.  That crazy snow storm last December came out of nowhere and dumped almost three feet of snow on us only to melt shortly thereafter.  Welcome to the northeast.

Never stepped foot on safe ice before, but I'm hoping to be walking on LG February 5th. The long range NOAA/almanac forecast for NY doesn't look good.

Maybe sooner than I thought made a quarter inch of ice on mayfield lake last night. Surely it will be all gone very soon but gonna have some pretty cold Temps this week and next week who knows.

I've never been on nice black ice either

Forestport Res and Kayuta had quite a bit of ice on it over the weekend. Wasn’t covered but definitely a lot more than what I was expecting.

There should be a good number of options by the week between Christmas and New Years in CNY/Southern Adks as long as there are no major swings in the weather. Stay safe.

The same spots get burned every year on FB but that's all good because most of the less known spots barely get attention.

Took a ride today and saw some ice starting to form on the edges of South Bay. It only went out a little way. Also saw Eagle lake had a slight skim down by the launch area but it wasn't all the way across and didn't go very far either. At least it starting.

Hopefully Friday. Going to check a small shallow adk pond I plan to hit on Monday. Hoping I can sneak out on it if it’s ready on Friday 🤞🏼
