UTV with doors or without
« on: Aug 30, 2021, 09:56 PM »
In a perfect world I would get a NorthStar but I don’t quite have the budget for that, $25,000 is a bit extreme for a toy…. $15000 is enough the way it is. A roof, windshield and rear panel are a must. Doors may have to wait a year or two. Anyone here run with just the roof, windshield and rear window? I would think just being able to get the wind off your face and body would be a huge improvement over nothing.

I ran with just a windshield and roof for a few years before getting a hard cab and heater. Just keeping the wind off of your face and out of your eyes helps a lot. I drove a new sxs a couple weeks ago without a top or windshield and it was tough on my eyes.

I bought my first SxS this past spring.
Since I live in the Arctic I went with a full cab with heat and heated seats.
And tracks and a professional grade plow.  ;D

The heat is nice, just a precaution if you drive on anything where you can drop it through, doors make it harder to get out of the vehicle while it goes through.  We lost a couple guys last year in a side by side as they went down, but I know for hunting and all it makes it nice when it is cold, snowy, and miserable out makes a better day out, and when it is below zero makes fishing a lot better as well.  Just cautious of what I drive on.

A flip out windshield is another exit should there be an issue like that.

Windshield, roof, and rear window will help and make it much more comfortable. That being said, I would definitely order up some doors when the wallet allows. Just blocking that side wind makes all the difference.  Unfortunately you can't always be driving with, or into, the wind. Ha.

Pretty sure if I buy new I will be biting the bullet and getting everything all at once. So flipping expensive but life is short and you only get to do it once.

I almost bought a new sxs a few weeks ago but didn't because the dealer couldn't get a full hard cab until next spring.

I am one my 2nd Ranger since 2010 and I/we have never had doors. Windshield, roof and rear window, no doors. In and out all the time, yard and field work, making maple syrup, ice fishing, making wood, no need for doors. Only use belts when we have to use it on the road.

I'm going to run my new machine with just the windshield this year. Don't have it in the budget to add more. I'm not too worried because I'm used to riding and ATV out on the ice and that has always been fine. We only go a mile or two at the most to our spots...
