Question about an auger

I have a pretty old auger,and I think I put too long of blades on it. They are new blades and they start like cr_p.   The blades are a hair longer than the diameter of the auger it self. Does that really make a difference on an auger???   Just Wondering      Thanx  JP

It sure does make a difference,I done the same thing a few moons ago,and it never did cut right,best bet is to get the correct size blades,

yea u probably have a 6in. auger with 8in. blades on it 6inchers will help
