biteing crappie
« on: Dec 13, 2005, 12:11 PM »
I caught 6 crappie sunday and three crappie monday. they seemed to be scatterd around, I would catch a couple out of each hole. no gills though, I was hopeing to find them, but no such luck. the ice was about 4 inches. It cracked about 4:30 and I felt the ice drop! the crack was about 15 feet away from me. talk about changeing your shorts, I decided it was time to go home! I will still be out there, but A little more aware about the the ice warming up.
if your not walking on water, then you're not icefishing!

I use the 80/20 rule you need 80% of the tackle to catch 20% of the fish

With 4 inches of ice and below freezing temps that cracking sound is a good thing, means it is making ice.  I have been on the lake where the cracking sounds went from one side all the way across the lake and through the channel where it echoed so loudly, it sounded like a thunderstorm, but yeah kinda nerve racking but sounds cool at the same time.
Real fisherman don't yield to the weather.

Yeah been there before last year I was on Eagle Creek and the popping etc started at night kind of unsettling if you ask me. Kinda like going to the chiropractor and he the says he's "making adjustments" on your neck
