Super Bowl Squares is back for another year!
For those of you that don't know what the Super Bowl Squares is, let me explain:
There are 10 columns and 10 rows making 100 squares with each square having a corresponding number for each team (i.e. score is 10 AFC and 13 NFC at the end of the 1st quarter, the person with the square in the column with #0 for the AFC and row for #3 for the NFC wins the 1st quarter).
There are winners for the 1Q, Half, Reverse Half (#3 for AFC and #0 for NFC), 3Q, Final, and Reverse Final. In previous years, that is all we did but I have done another square league where the number of first downs and the total yardage was also done. I want there to be more winners this year so I will be adding those in as well.
WE DO NOT PLAY FOR MONEY! Instead, we play for jigs/lures/equipment. Each participant will need to let me know what they will be offering up as their "bet" when they tell me what squares they want. This year I figured we could put a minimum dollar amount of $15 spent per person (you can go over if you feel like you are in the giving mood).
The Super Bowl will be played on 2/12/23 so all wanting participants must let me know by 2/3/23 at noon CST in order to be qualified. On the afternoon of 2/3, I will let guys start picking their squares on a first come first serve basis (number of squares per person will depend on number of participants). The columns and rows will be decided and posted on 2/10/23.
After all of the winners are decided, it is the winner's responsibility to post who's "bet" they want and then that person must mail out their "bet" in a timely manner.
The order for picking the "bet" will be determined on 2/3 and is dependent on how many participants we have.
Also, if we end up with an uneven number, the first person will get an extra square, and so on.

I got out last weekend for a 3 day 3 lake solo trip and kicked butt on trout even caught my first tiger trout. I exclusively used tungsten jigs and spikes that I won from the first year of this. Such a fun and rewarding event I hope it never fades away.

sorry bootstrap. It was already difficult getting the 18 people last year to ship out their jigs at a reasonable time. I wanted to limit it for that reason.

One of the hardest things to do with this is get people to pick their prizes in a timeline manner. To fix this, I would like to try something different this year.
I am thinking I will break everyone's "bets" into 8 even pods. The winner of each category will then win a pod of their choosing.
Is this a good idea?

The fact that you are trying to make things run simple and smooth is good with me. Whatever you/we decide I don't mind either. But there is always confusion on the prize side of things. May cut down on that! Thanks Rippin!

Getting people to pick prizes in a timely manner Is one thing but getting people to pick the squares in a timely manner shouldn’t take this long…. I see only 67% have picked the squares so far. Come on folks , give Rippin lips a break and pick your squares

Penny for your thoughts rippin to maybe save you a headache. If people don’t get their squares filled by said date, you could open it up to first come first serve. I’m sure the interest would be there like the ice shanty giveaways they have.

You can go back in and change it. Just click on the square and it should pop up a way to change the name.

😀 I received my pod of prizes and I am delighted. I especially liked the IceShanty.com’s sticker I didn’t expect that.. Thanks to everybody. Wining on first downs surprised me but any win is a good win. The prizes were great and being part of this forum game is even better..
