Finally found a deal on a 7.5 Kdrill and Milwaukee drill. I hate cleaning the snow but can’t wait for the ice!

I know exactly how you feel. I think I have more fun talking about ice fishing and getting ready for ice fishing than I do actually fishing sometimes! Waiting until next month to get the shack down out of the rafters to start prepping it. Switched jobs recently so it should allow for more time to fish as well as get me further north sooner in the year!

I been wanting winter for months now, been a long hot summer, still pretty hot here, but starting to cool down some, lots of lakes with no water, probably have to do a bit of exploring this winter to ice fish.

I'm looking forward to winter for a while here. It's been to dry to launch a boat in the river for weeks, so bring on the ice.
-
been waiting for ice since after the spring crappie bite. Can't come soon enough!
-
Been near or over 90 since June. Ready for ice.
-
Come January you may miss summer weather, sitting in your boat and wetting a line, and enjoying a cold one.
-
I like fall fishing for salmon and steelhead as much as icefishing.only season i dislike is summer.
-
I will be going to the beach at the end of the month and I sit there every year thinking how much I wish I was sitting in the shack or on a bucket over the frozen stuff! I'm somewhat of a weirdo in the sense I don't mind shoveling/plowing snow so yeah weird...depending on who yer talking to!

I never miss summer weather :P

From what I have seen in Illinois, I would agree, I sympathize. Summer is too hot and humid, winter feels cold but is not, spring is usually too windy, fall is good.

It's pretty much always windy here ;)
The problem with winter in this area is it is very inconsistent, so ice is typically spotty, and in some winters, nonexistent. It will be below zero one day, then above freezing the next. We usually go back and forth between ice fishing and open water once or twice during an "average" winter.
It is getting worse over time, too. Sustained cold snaps are becoming the exception, not the rule. I imagine 50 years from now being able to ice fish will be out of the question most winters down here.
