No way.  I may be crazy but I'm not stupid.  The ice in SE Mi was never that great
and now it's all but gone.  Honeycombed.  Not good.  Dismal forcast.  Be careful.

I'll be out at least for the next day, might sleep in New Years Eve day.

All I can say is think SMALL.   Ponds, tiny lakes...some of them still have plenty of safe ice.

The last day I got out was Tuesday. The ice was never great around K-zoo, and after the last week is pretty much non-exsistant. I did lots of driving around over the last week and saw more open water than anything. I can't believe that I'm complaining that I can't ice fish.

I've been out on couple of lakes and had decent ice last weekend. (Grand Beach & Alderman) Going to try Independence on Sunday. Heard it was a good croppie lake. Think small lakes and they should be ok. Just the first few feet seem th be the problem. Wanted to go to Houghton today with the rest of the crew but you know how it goes....

man, I need an avatar or something.

Heard a few nuts were out here and there but haven't seen any. Weather reports don't look very promising for the next week or so. Picked up a new flasher to replace the old "green box" that finally died, don't even get to play with it for awhile.

Saw a guy out last night on Sonoma. In a boat! Looked like he slid his 12' flatbottom about 50' out onto the ice, somehow. Where there's a will, there's a way.

OK....which one of you guys pissed off mother nature?

My grass is turning green?  I just bought a pair of Sorel Glacier boots and a 20.00 set of ice cleats from Gander and now I'm considering packing them away in exchange for golf shoes....   Suppose I shouldn't have bought those...maybe I jinxed us all.

SORRY.

Gee if the weather doesn't turn cold for another week and it takes two weeks to freeze up and another week to be safe then......hey thats a month....thats mid February.
that only leaves three or four weeks until it starts to thaw !   THat ReALLy sucks.

The forcast I looked at said that starting Saturday it will get down to the mid 20's and night and bounce between 34 and 40 degrees during the day. Figure if I can find a lake that still had some crap ice on it, and it freezes up solid at night, I might be able to fish in about 3 weeks. That'll be the 3rd or 4th of Feb. But I'm in K-zoo, I would guess it would be about the same around you.

Yesterday I saw more golfers on the course, than fisherman on the ice.  Mid January 2006 - this lack of winter weather is killing me.

And another thing........

The peoples (radio/television/co-workers) who go around talking about how nice the weather is.................... .......ARGHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHH!

I can't stand it.  Move out of here.  All of you just move!

Should have known it ???. Picked up a new flasher, tip-ups, auger and a couple of new rods and reels and don't see them getting used in the near future. Also a friend that used to fish 4 or 5 times a week with me, and hadn't in 5 years was focused, armed and ready to attack again. It figures, just don't have time for any long road trips either.  :%$#!:
