adding wheel option to Jet Sled
« on: Jan 19, 2022, 11:37 AM »
I have an extra set of wheels that I would like to add to my jet sled for hand pulling over dry ground and I am thinking that I would like to drill holes in the side and pass the axle through it and be able to take them off with ease.  What I am worried about is weakening the sled at the hole and creating a crack.  Any ideas on how to reinforce the area around the hole?

hahaha, this is the one made a few years back by MY fishing buddy here in Toronto area.
Mostly ice fishing Lake Simcoe in southern Ontario, Canada, for lake trout (lakers), lake whitefish (whities), and jumbo yellow perch:-)

Steel plate with a hole through it, could even have bearings.  or you should be able to find some bushings that would work.

You could buy a cheap plastic welder and attach washers the size of your holes and cover with plastic weld.

Thanks.  How would you attach the steel plate to the plastic sled?

Double them, 1 inner & 1 outer.
Through drill both plates & 4 rivets should do it. I would JB weld the plates to the sled also & a good quality nylon bushing for the axle bearing.

Thanks.  I was thinking about something like JB Weld too.

i have thought about making a wheel barrow type rig for under the sled.  just bungie it on the frame.
real fishermen don't ask "where you catch those"
