Tube jigs and droppers
« on: Jan 12, 2006, 09:55 PM »
Last Sunday morning in church while listening to the preacher I started "doodling" on my note pad and as usual it was about ice fishing and something a fellow was telling me a couple of weeks ago about using tube jigs for crappies in the last few weeks of ice fishing.
I went home and got a small tube jig and threaded my 2# mono on to a needle which I then pushed thru the front of the tube jig and out the back thru the "tentacles" of the jig .
I left about 8" of line  out below the jig and put a small pinch on split shot on the line and pulled it up inside the tube kind of like a carolina rig in reverse.
Then I tied a small dropper hook on the line 3'' below the jig.We don't have ice right now to try it but it sure looks enticing in a 5 gallon bucket. I tied several of them up and can't wait to try them. If any of you guys like the idea and try it let me know how it works for you.

Has the rain a father?
Or who has begotten the drops of dew?
From whose womb comes the ice?
And the frost from heaven, who gives it birth?
By the breath of God ice is given and the broad waters are frozen.
The waters harden like stone and the surface of the deep is frozen.

The book of Job.
