Jiffy Pro4 power upgrades??
« on: Dec 23, 2018, 08:56 PM »
Just poking around to see if anyone has tuned up their propane auger to get a little more power from it.  I took one of the nitrous bottles from my bike and just barely cracked it into the intake under full throttle on my auger and it was pretty sweet, a bit impractical to install a full dry shot kit on my auger though.

Any tips or tricks would be looked into, thanks.

not necessary, just keep your blades sharp.

They're pretty finicky, not sure how much modding can be done. I know one guy who removed the air breather tube and said it ran better. After I replaced my regulator and hose due to a small leak, I tightened up the throttle cable so the cable was pulling the throttle to max it out, it was getting too much fuel and I had to dial it back. If I feel like it has lost power, I change the plug and check for oil residue in the carb. I run a CR4HSB which is a "hotter" plug.
It must be something in the water.

I build a lot of 1/5 scale r/c cars and have tried multiple things to get more power. The exhaust pipe is the biggest power loss. I put a bartalone racing full stainless can on my jiffy a couple years ago amd it made really good power but was so loud you had to wear earplugs. Just keep it stock. It will last far longer.

I sort of figured there wouldnt be much a guy could do with a propane, but a horsepower junky had to ask.

Best mod is to sell it and get an ion.

Yeah right, I'll stick to propane.  Already use the bottles for my heater and it fires up in sub -20 weather.  I'll keep what I have..
