Winter outlook for Canada
« on: Sep 14, 2017, 07:52 AM »
It's time again to extrapolate the weather conditions to see how our winter shapes up. So far it looks really good for ice fishing.

I envy you guys, a short ice season is about what a record season would be like for us. I only went out on the ice a couple times with more that 6".

It has been about 3 or 4 years since we have had more than about 22” of ice. About 5 years ago I did buy an extension for my jiffy we had close to 3 feet by the end of March the lakes were still ice covered for the opener in May. I never did use my new extension yet.

A couple years ago I had my extention on my Jiffy Model 30 on Bitter lake in South Dakota still ran the thing up to the handle bars before it broke through......was a good year.

Yes, definitely better to have the option! I was right up to the powerhead last year, but still managed to squeeze by.
