it would have to do much more than the weather we had to effect the ice here. tons of ice all over this state now slush i think is another story.

Yea, were gonna end up with close to 2' of ice after the slop on the top freezes tomorrow. Hopefully the snow stays away & I can get to some of my spots that require a mile walk.
Don't horse em!

Suppose to be below 0 tonight.  50's next week.  Next week the fish will be in a major  feeding period.  Getting on the ice maybe a problem in a couple of weeks but not now.  Depending upon how much snow is along the shore line will dictate the condition of the ice .  More snow means more water along the shoreline.  The less snow there is the longer the ice will hold up.  Mid lake ice will be here a good 2-3 more weeks easily.

Let us know how the ice is at greenlick if you can. Was there Saturday and Sunday and the ice was 10-11 inches the perch were eating ok but not great.

I wonder what all the runoff water did to the edges. Not to mention the water level will rise & pull the ice from the edges. Till the water level goes backdown.  Plus here we had about 9" of snow to cover the edges now. So will that insulate it from re-freezing ??

the ice is like 20 " thick and it was 0 degrees this morning in my area... you think a little rain will hurt the ice? Next week we will have a couple days in the 40's and maybe even the 50's... Might wet the top a little bit but it won't hurt the ice either. We will be on ice in April!

got there today around 11am and only one other tent out. Only caught 1 crappie and lost two ended up leaving around 2. went over and talked to the guy in tent and he had about 10 crappie on the ice said he returned about that many because a little small. The ice is sinking around edges and many large cracks with gaps. We both entered ice from dock by launch. Years back this is the lake I went through to hips because of these cracks so be careful through rest of season. Once your out past cracks ice is 10-12". Stay safe and have fun.

Heading up to Rose Valley in the morning. Anyone been up there the last few days to see how the ice is. My buddy was up last week and said there was about 18" so I doubt there will be any issues but ya never know.

I agree with you about how the ice will hold up and am hoping you're right, that would be GREAT!

I second that. There is nothing like a Poconos trip for last ice.  :icefish:

Fished a Pocono lake two weeks ago - 20 inches of ice.  Fished the same lake Saturday - 24 inches.  Looks like a nice extended season this year.
