Olson's is the best! Could not find any in this one-horse town yet, so had to settle for Fish Market brand. (I did also grab a jar of the "regular" wine sauce herring) Vita is good; used to be the "Elf" brand. Same company now outta Chicago. Only one I've ever had that's better than those is Fareway's own bulk herring.....5 star. It's just a tad sweeter. I grew up eating wine soaked Rollmops around a pickle, with a saltine cracker, with my Dad. Our special times. As us herring folk say, bring on the Gaffelbiter!!!

Scored a lb of Olsen's bulk herring today!

Ok...here's what I'm thinking

. Got a bunch of Green Bean casserole leftover from Thanksgiving ( not my favorite ). Mixing in some Venison loin chunks, a bit of cauliflower/broccoli and shredded Swiss. Top with some seasoned bread crumbs and then bake for a bit. Go or No Go? $:-\$

Update. Turned out good. Got the wife's seal of approval too.

Smokey bean soup and ham with swiss on ciabatta buns. Warmed me right up after blowing out that huge pile of 3" snow driven by the 20 MPH blizzard winds we had here...

I did up some tenderloin and eggs for lunch. Had someone watching every bite. He won't eat it, but will stare at you like he's starved. Drives the wife crazy. I love it.

Real dinner. Baked boneless pork chops, pan sauce/gravy, mashed taters and broccoli.

Sounds darned good, 'Sox. I don't know what mine was....browned up a lb of burger with some assorted Mexican seasonings, onions, black beans, and rice. Added some milk and water to cook the rice, let it cook down until thick. Topped it with some leftover broken taco strip chips and shredded cheddar I had. Plopped it on a warm tortilla with some sour cream, (Didn't have any tomato's or lettuce) and had a big bomber burrito. And so ended supper. Garbage can Gruel in a tortilla.
