Title: Cleaning/Shining dull spoons? ex. swedish pimples
Post by: mistertwister on Dec 07, 2016, 11:42 AM
Wondering if anyone ever cleans up their dull spoons to increase the flash? I thought I found a video a year or so ago about this, just curious what you guys use? CLR, coca cola?

Tripple odd steel wool to knock rust off of crome. Or use eagle 1 crome polish.. it is in a can stinks like crazy but really shines the crome.. it not s paste or wax it is a chemical that really works.. to shine Chrome with a wipe of a rag and use another clean rag to buff it to a high shine..

Flitz works well

x2

Not only shines a charm but leaves a bit of light "wax" to inhibit future tarnish.

Or a trick I picked up from the Old Man: A bit of ash, wetted and rubbed with your fingers on the tarnished metal will do a serviceable field job. Cigarette (him) or cigar (me) works.

Close enough chilly ~ just tryin' to clarify in my own mind, which I seem to have lost.    :roflmao:

"Samuel Johnson thought that since "aught" was generally used for "anything" in preference to "ought", so also "naught" should be used for "nothing" in preference to "nought". ... Shot pellet diameters 0, 00, and 000 are pronounced "aught", "double aught", and "triple aught"."

Anyone ever notice a reduction in effectiveness after applying cleaners?

They sell an awful lots of baits with fancy scent attractant, I was always hesitant to apply any type of chemical for fear that fish might be detoured by the scent of the residue...

Actually those beat up lures with it's uniqueness, usually works very well.  It's proof that the fish wants it.

I also used to use ciggerette ash for a quick touch up if needed(quit smoking however).  I used it dry and while it did not put a high end shine on it would put on some flash.  Never tried any other type of ash wood/coal/etc. - now I just hit it with fine steel wool as I'm leary of the odor of some compounds

toss mine in my vibratory brass cleaner. Careful if you have decals on them. no odor and wicked shine when done,  using corncob grit. effortless too.

This is good for buffing spoons..  and wood if you turn pens etc .. and restore cars it's even better to own with all the chrome parts you can find.. but best part is its on clearence 60 some odd dollars with a 11 % rebate..  and you get more off if you got other rebates  to use.. here's the link..
