Muskie 2-2-07
« on: Feb 02, 2007, 07:27 PM »
Well I went out this morning and could not catch a crappie big enough to keep but I look over at my other pole and a fish has got the bait so I go over and set the hook but when your setup is not big enough for the fish you are trying to catch this happens.  :-\ :-\ :-\

So I start to pull the fish in and it spits the hook so I start pulling the line in fast but notice that the fish is chasing my bate so I drop it back down the fish again takes the bait and once again i set the hook but was not 100% ready for the fish to make a run and this is what happens when you are not ready the line burns right into your finger. :'( :'( :'(

The fish was not getting away again I ended up getting the fish here it is. :o :o :o

As I am taking the hook out of the fish I realized that I was this close to loosing the fish for a second time I think I got lucky.

Congrats on the catch of that monster. I know what it feels like to have line burns on the fingers. I did the same thing with a 28lbs salmon in a river after he snapped my 25lbs line. Cuts like butter and hurts for along time. Again congrats.

And the fish got releasee mt little btother has one on the wall that is 51.5 inches long so it would have to be bigger then that for me to mount it this one was only 44 inches.

Great musky and story TJ.  :woot:
Those big fish can sure be hard on the tackle and a person. I have had some pike open the snaps like that, I now invest in in cross lock snaps, they hold up a bit better than the regular ones.
I have also had the displeasure of holding onto a thrashing fish with braided line, it hurts like heck but at least you got your trophy.:pinch: ;)

Nice going erieeye, that is a trophy fish also. 8)
