Small Town Fishing Durby
« on: Feb 09, 2005, 06:50 PM »
Here's a couple pics of the fish that were entered at the Sheepscot Lake Fishing Durby in Maine this last weekend. Sorry, the quality isn't the best.

The biggest fish was a Bass just under 8 lbs. A lot of fish were entered, besides Bass were some 3lb Pickerel, 4lb Togue, 2lb Brooktrout, 3lb Salmon, Browntrout, Splake, White perch, and NO Yellow perch. It was a beutiful day, many people on the ice.

I like the pictures of the dead bass too.  There are to many bass in our lakes, the theory of catch and release for bass in my opinion does more harm than anything.  I think selective harvest would be a better approach for the bass.
Real fisherman don't yield to the weather.

I agree Selective Harvest IS the BEST method  for ALL game. Sad part is..... you can bet that if we were brought up on "Selective Harvest",,Instead of the "Catch and Realse"  Theory,, John and Jane Q.couldn`t have understood the importance of such  a revolutionary change in the fishing world. One that made looking at Throphy boards with 25,,35,,,50 fish hanging from them almost a tabu to the newest of anglers that we count on to help not only keep up the sport that we have come to cherish and thrive, but to also make them healthier than ever by proper management of not only Selective harvest, but the growing support of slot limits.
