Was at Collingwood Saturday. I measured 8 inches of ice. There was 8 to 10 trucks on the ice, 1 went by us in our tent and the ice dropped and water was coming out the holes. I had to go home and change my shorts. We were in 32 feet of water and was slow day. only got 5 perch between the 2 of us.
Won't be long before someone goes through the ice. They have to be crazy driving on the ice already.
I am from regina and would like to hurry fishing st Collingwood this weekend, just wondering if anyone that's been out there knows for sure if it's safe to walk out and fish from the boat launch to get to 25 to 30 feet of water. Any information on the ice would be appreciated.
As of last Saturday it was safe to walk out to 30' of water. There is parking at the boat launch and some guys drove down into the little slough/bay area north of the boat launch and parking on the ice down there. You should be safe to walk on this weekend and I suspect there will be a few more trucks on the ice at Collingwood even.Good luck, I don't have much for tips but the smaller PK spoons worked OK for me last weekend.
Anyone using pk spoons or buck rattle spoons with success? do you tip them with minnow or minnow head? also seen the sebile vibrato.. interesting name, great reviews though.. anyone use those?
yup, what this guy said.
The buckshot perch pattern spoon with a partial minnow has been my LML go to..... until last year. For whatever reason, I had more success with the live forage flutter lure in the perch pattern, again with a half minnow. The more I fish, the surer I am of how little I know.
