Looking at getting a pair
-
What drew you to these? Now I'm interested in a pair! They go up to skipper sasquatch size!
I may go with the impact series though.... I would want these for deer hunting too, the yellow is a little obnoxious for that.
And I see your location. Howdy from a Milaca guy!
-
Milaca, been there a few times. My buddy showed them to me last year and they are awesome. They make them in black as well. I really like the single buckle, no laces to keep retying all day.
-
Baffin Explorer, love them.

Got a pair of Baffin Apex last fall for my birthday. Never not once did i have cold or wet feet last ice season.

Baffin Explorer, love them.

The Explorers seem to be easier to find. Do they have a zipper in the back? I am trying to figure out the differance in them and the Doug Stoups.

made in china :nono:
-
98% of the winter boots made nowadays are chinese, sorel, baffin, cabelas Trans alaskan, lacrosse are all made off shore, either in china, Malaysia, Indonesia ! According to American consumer reports, there are only 3 or 4 US companies that still make HD winter pac boots and of those companies only Kamik offers a line of boots under $300 dollars ! Even though they are a Canadian company, they do have a manufacturing facility here on the easy coast in New Hampshire.

I have Impacts. If you want to regulate the temps in them, open the drawstring in the top, to keep your legs from getting to warm. I have to do this while sitting. Never a cold foot since buying them. I would buy a new pair every year just to keep my feet warm, but I am going on my third or forth year with them.

Are the Impacts made in china?
-
According to Baffin, all their boots are made in Canada.

Thank you for posting the pics. I really like the Impacts, but I am worried about the 16 inch heigth. How high do they actually stand when you are wearing them?
-
I've been googling and can't seem to find a statement that says "all Baffin boots are made in Canada", but some of there models do claim to be made in Canada. You'd think they would have a great big red maple leaf with MADE IN CANADA on their website! If they are, that is a big selling point!
I used to be a Lacrosse boot guy. After they moved their operation to china, their boots went to CRAP. The pair I have will be the last pair of Lacrosse boots I own. If Baffin is made in America's hat (Canada), they will be the first to get my business. I know guys who were 100% loyal to sorel that are in the same boat as me. Lots of people say the Chinese sorels ain't even close to the new ones in comfort and quality.
-
Ik its a shame! More products need to be made in the USA!! Ill usually spend more to have a tag with our nations great flag on it!
-
I refuse to pay $220 for boots made in china. My old ice kings were made in Wisconsin. I wish I had them now. They were just too heavy for runnin and gunnin.

If you do buy some, get them one size over your regular size. They will still feel tight, but will conform to your feet, which means your feet only. Don't share your boots or they will mess up the liner and the boot will not fit proper. The height is not a problem. I keep them tight for walking and loose while sitting. I just use white gym socks in them, same ones I wear for work. Don't need thick socks with this type of boot.

Does your pair say made in china on the label?
-
I've owned mine for a couple years now and as long as you are not standing in water later in the season you'll love them, easy on/off, warm, comfotable..... but they will take in water.
-
I'll try to drop into Mark's this morning and look at a pair to see where they are made.
-
I have a pair of Baffin Expeditions and there made in Canada..... There a little heavy but very warm... I don't even put socks on while wearing them..... ;D
Anyone try these yet? http://www.thermacell.com/heated-insoles/about (http://www.thermacell.com/heated-insoles/about)

I tried to blow up the picture so I could read it, but I will have to check them when I get home. Sorry :'(
-
All the winter stock is not in yet. The Baffin boots that I looked at are made in Canada.
-
The baffin boots I bought for the missus 2 years ago say "Made in China" on the inside of the liner tongue !!
-
Surf,
The boots I looked at were made in Canada.
http://www.amazon.com/Baffin-Titan-Canadian-Insulated-Rubber/dp/B002D48SO6
As I said their stock was low and the winter boots were not in.
Trying to search the net I find many of their styles are made in China. I haven't found where the Polar Boots are made ..... yet.

I got the baffins for LLT because she has a tough time keeping her feet warm, I thought after paying $169.00 her troubles would be over !! The Very first time she wore them, we had to cross a crack were someone drove over and there was 3 or 4 inches of overflow on the ice, her Brand New Baffins leaked so bad that when she told me and took them off in the shack, she poured water out of both boots !!
The store were I got them told me they were specail order and they would not take them back !! I wigged out on the manager and he said there was nothing he could or would do about, I left before I ended up doing something I would regret, I can't say I'm impressed with their Chinese crap !

I took a few pictures of my tags for you guys.

But the Snodogs were made in Canada
-
I just called Baffin. They said the Doug Stoup model has been discontinued. They said only the Baffin 100% rubber boots are made in Canada. All other boots are "made overseas" They also said to buy one size bigger and do not wear cotton socks with them.
-
I have decided to get a pair of the Lacrosse Alpha Ice Kings. I need a boot that is 100% waterproof and warm. They retail for $172

I keep reading alot of guys like the Muck Boots. They just look to thin.
-
They are really great for late ice when the air temps are warm and the ice is all sloppy. You're right though, they are not quite warm enough for the rough part of winter.
-
Thats what I figured.
