Best sight fishing flip tent ?
« on: Jan 05, 2012, 10:20 PM »
I am in the market to buy a new tent, I have the X2 clam but for early ice it is way to heavy to drag by hand. I would be fishing the bays and would like to site fish. My X2 is not good for that because of the lite colored gray fabric. I was thinking about the clam trmal Nanook. Does the thermal fabric block out the light? Or I was all so looking at the Frabill Commando 1 person. Not shure if the thermal is really needed. It is more important to me to see down the hole. Any ideas ?

Just look for the blackout material on the inside

Take a look at some of the Otter flip overs.  I have one and I sight fish out of it quite a bit, its not always the perfect solutions but it still allows you to be mobile but when you are really on em I drag out the permanent.

Frabill trekker series is a great flip over. I have had 3 tents before this and this is my favorite by far. Great seats and very mobile by hand or sled.

I have a Frabill Trekker that pulls well, is uninsulated and black.  Seats are heavy but you can leave them behind.  Big and roomy.

Thanks for the input, I just got back from Grander Mnt. $449 for the Trekker DLX with a travel cover. It was lighter than the Pro and Cheaper. Trekker at 87 lbs. and the Pro was 98 lbs. Now going to add ski. ;D
