Post by: RIfish on Feb 23, 2019, 07:24 PM: Hung out on Wilsons today after lunch. Walked right out from boat ramp. There was 3 different groups out there . Probably 15 people in all . And flags ere flying!

Ice in March is like snow on xmas. Its no guarantee but man does it bring some excitement. Rhode island has been on the fine line of ice vs no ice all season and though we have been on the better side of that line, a few miles has made the difference of ice vs open water.

Post by: comeonnow on Feb 25, 2019, 04:44 PM: Saturday was a fun day at Wilson’s. We all got to see some nice fish caught and the entertainment from a few in our group was priceless. The ice at Wilson’s still looks good but the wind has ripped apart a lot of the other Northern R.I. ponds.

No problem with parking. Edges were solid and all ice that we fished was pretty uniform @ 8-10"...no open areas, from what we could see.

Also got a visit from an old fella named Roger came out to visit me with his cane good dude!!!!! I’d love to own a house right on that lake beautiful spot.

Met Tom today fishng down towards the dam. Tom caught a nice bass will I was visiting with him .

As the day warmed, the slush/water started forming wherever I had dug out areas for tipups/jigging, but there was still plenty of ice. By the time I left it seemed to have started freezing back up - warmer temps this week though so be cautious

Pretty slow today. I fished over toward J Birds. A couple perch and some pickerel. No Bass.☹️

The error in Judgement was I promised "The Boss" it would be done by this weekend. I was all but sure we would not the get the cold spell we did last week. Missed the chance to get out. Looks like I'm done for this season. Happy hunting till ice out guys. Waterman had fishermen last weekend. This weekend will be dodgy!!! CAREFUL ALL!

Trying to re-up again so I can stay away from the markets and all of the darn antibiotics they are using these days. Now, even wild food needs to be used in moderation depending on where it comes from but I rather take my chances with that. It also helps that my 2 year old loves fish and everything else I harvest. almost time to whip out the rods for Togs and trout.

I am no debbie downer but tomorrow will be the last day in RI unfortunately. Check as you go but get out if you can. That rain is coming followed by some strong wind with no refreeze. Good luck to who ever ventures out.
