Drowning near Oak Run
« on: Feb 07, 2017, 10:30 AM »
Most of you probably saw this, but i am posting it here just to remind people to be extremely cautious on what ice is left in central illinois...

A Washington, Ill., man died Sunday after falling through the ice on a strip mine lake near Oak Run while ice fishing. Knox County Sheriff's deputies responded at 2:18 p.m. Sunday to Gamber Cove, a private fishing club, after a report  of a person falling through the ice.
The 56 year old man was recovered from 16 feet of water and was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:48 p.m.
The man's fishing  partner attempted a rescue but the ice broke, landing the second person in the water as well. The second person was able to get out of the water.
