Good Morning Everyone,
Light winds and 32* this am, that will be the high here today...at least it’s right at the freezing point.   ;D

Marv...good luck with today’s trip and coaxing the Tuna to bite if it shows up! A carp harpooning would be the icing on the cake...  Forgot to mention, excellent job giving that young lad the pike, well done!
OS...glad everything went well with your plumbing and electrical work..those two are my Do Not Touch areas, lol.
Wally...saw two guys fishing Saturday that were less than 10yds. away from the open deep water on the lake...like a mini version of Oneida.   :woot:
H2...the pickerel were fun to catch....even when I wasn’t targeting them, lol. Congrats to the team on sweeping up all the points again!
OG...you had great weather there for the Extravaganza!   What would you do differently your next trip and any pointers?  Reason I ask is...that’s on my bucket list one of these seasons.
Jeff...hope the perch bite was on for you and Jon yesterday!     Best of luck if you’re heading back again today!

Hard to believe it’s the end of January already, yesterday fealt like Spring down in the Albany area.
Today should be interesting at the workplace...lobbying and protest day. I’ll see if I can snap a few pictures to share.
Time to get ready for another shift... Cawfee’s on!
Have a great day all, be safe, best of luck to those fishing!

Wally...…...I guess the new boat is taking up a lot of your time, it looks like you have the space to work on it.
I'm headed out in a few to get back to Lake George, the ice held up well over the weekend.

Good Morning. 29* and cloudy.
WS, sounds like "Tuna" is making the rounds or the lake is full of big ones.
IW, glad you are getting out. Be Safe.
Eddie, you can almost see the seasons change in Albany based on the protests, bar exams, basketball, farmers market, etc.
WW, there are lots of bells and whistles for a new boat. I always liked to fish a new boat before I added a lot of things to just to make sure of where I wanted to mount it. Always hated drilling holes in a new boat.
Have a good day....h2l

WS.....fingers crossed today's the day you have the right combination  ;)2

OS....sounds like a busy weekend of home improvements

Eddie....with all the activities going on your work days should never be boring  :roflmao:  crazy the risks some people take for a fish  :nono:

H2L.....right now we're working on a track system, fine tuning which rod holders to mount and a charging system for the batteries  ;)

MrC/IF45....hope you're both doing well  :)

Not much planned for today, MrWW has to help his brother move a fridge later, otherwise I'm sure he'll be tinkering in the boat  ;D

Have a good day at work or play. Stay safe.

Good Morning ER's IW good luck today stay safe. Eddie Get on ice as early as possible the day of. Minnows all must be less than 4 in. Bait store near BIR open all night a 2 letter name I think S&W has a deal so I was told one bag all different types of minnows and best deal. Add some waxies and spikes. Propane is allowed on ice but not on shuttles. I brought way to many lures limit them and 1 light shallow rod 1 rod to go deeper and 1 rod to the bottom should be good. Bring one spud Bar or share one with your group. Shanties not allowed day of dress warm if mega cold. No shanties day of day before OK. Tough to find exact location of grid and maps don't even show Hole in the Day Bay. Intel needed there. Talk to volunteers this has been going 30 yrs. now. Most Fish 50 ft. plus then 18-22 and less than 10. Contour machine would be a big plus if your one of first out there day of.

WW, track system on the new boat is great. Rod holders can be moved to anywhere on the boat and NO holes. Thing is I haven't used them yet. What I liked the best was the outside track for the boat cover. No more snaps to deal with....h2l

H2L....we’ve had the chance to use the track system on a friend’s boat. It’s so nice having all the rods out of the way when you’re trying to land a fish or when getting set up. They aren’t cheap by any means but like anything else if you do it right the first time with the best equipment you can afford it pays off in the end by not having a do over situation.

Good day forty with overcast sky and 10-15 MPH winds. Scary incident in neighboring Town of Newburgh on Sunday morning a shooting left a couple and one of their young children dead another child is in one of the Westchester county hospitals after being shot multiple times. Police have made an arrest there is some type of connection between the family and shooter.
Eddie is Tuesday the usual day for protesters to be at the capital building/Empire Plaza area. Congratulations to your son on the trout.
Ice Wanderer good to read Lake George's ice did not suffer to badly from this weekend's rain. Be safe and good fishing to you and your partner today.
Old Goat thank you for the report of your time at the Brainard Jaycees contest. Congrats on the casino winnings. Please give us a report on the Asso fishing line once you use it on a few trip. I need help for a device like the Tye-Pro to use that light of a pound test line given my close vision and touble feeling line in my fingers/hands under 4 pound test.
Whooper Stopper nice looking cookies. Sounds like the "Tuna" walleye patrols a good section of the lake may Drifter's idea result in you catching her.
Hunt2long congratulations to your bowling team on taking all 4 points. How many weeks are left in the season.
Wallyworls sound like the track system will be a good addition to the new boat.
OldSailor all the best to your wife with the radiation treatments. Nice to have a BIL with knowledge to help with home improvements and upgrades.

Have a good and safe day. Best to all fishing be safe out on the ice.

Good afternoon everyone

19 degrees with light snow falling.

I made it to the house and was all set up by 7am. I stopped and bought some small shiners and let one soak until a snot rocked nailed it. Today was the day the walleyes decided to stayed away. I think this was only the second time that I didn't at least see a small one, anyway the shiners sure got the pike stirred up. I ended up catching 4 pike and seeing 8 carp. Tomorrow my wife is coming with so I will throw the spear in the truck and see if I can poke a carp or two.

I had to meet a guy at 11:30 to look as some trees so my day ended up being short at the lake. I got the job so I will start on that Thursday.

Hope you all are having a good afternoon  Stay safe.

Good Evening,OldSailor well plumbing may not be one of your BIL's favorite things to do but it appears he knows his stuff.
Whopper Stopper best to you and Mrs. WS with tomorrow's fishing trip. I was thinking if you can purchase leeches at this time of you do you think they might work on the dead stick rod to bring in the walleyes.

A pleasant evening to everyone.

Good Morning Everyone,
  Happy Hump Day!   ;D
23* with light winds this am, high of 29 today. Might be creeping down close to the single digits by this time tomorrow!

Jeff...Angelo is doing good! He’s been doing exceptionally well with the concrete, and has learned how to screed, finish , and edge to everyone’s liking...he’s got a great bunch of teachers and retains what he learns.     We had to take down his brick and block laying area not so long ago,  but we actually discussed starting back on that yesterday..he really needs to get the hours in those areas. Hope the fishing was good yesterday, best of luck to you guys if heading back today!
Wally...that track system sounds awesome! Will be looking forward to seeing that when it’s installed.
OG...thank you for the information, very much appreciated Sir!     Have you ever tried a palm rod?
Steve...yes, Tuesday is usually the big day when the lawmakers are in session. We were in an area yesterday that prevented us from seeing anything going on, maybe next week I’ll get a chance to share a photo or two.
So sad to hear about those types of shootings...hopefully justice will be served.
Marv...Shamu has proven to be a good house for you this season, enjoy all the reports! Best  of luck to you and Jo today, hope to see some pictures of keeper walleyes and maybe a few carp on the spear!
Dave....all systems go for the cabin this weekend? Do you have any plans for another camping/fishing trip this season?

We got pulled off the concrete yesterday to take care of an emergency job....which wasn’t a bad thing. Back to the sidewalks again today. If what I heard yesterday is true, lol, we won’t be outside much longer...but think we’ve all heard that a few times now.   ;D
Looking forward to the weekend already....Cawfee’s on!
Have a great day all, be safe, best of luck to those fishing!

Hey Eddie
Think I'm going to stay home this weekend. Haven't done anything about the tires yet and am still feeling sick from the flu.
It's actually worse now than it was last Friday and Saturday. :'(
I've got some work to do around the house and some shopping that needs to be done.
Will try and get the spare fixed this week and have them order me up new rims and tires for the trailer so I'm back to 2 spares.

I haven't even been out fishing since October. :(
I will get out eventually and I have a month or so penciled in to go to Alaska to catch fish and visit with friends.
I haven't been since I started the build.   :-\

Good afternoon everyone

We got back from Shamu a couple of hours ago. We had a fun time, saw lots of fish.

We did see 2 walleyes as it was getting light. They came into the jig with half a fathead attached, but both turned off and kept going. I was hoping the shiner would get their interest but not the case. As we approached 9am the dead stick with the shiner started to come alive as the pike moved in. I caught 4 pike all 2-3.5 pounds and my wife was busy with a Rattlin trap either pulling it away from little pike or pulling them out. I think she caught 6 pike and one small bass. We did keep her 25" for supper tonight. Not sure why we kept hers as mine was 2" longer ???

We only saw one carp today and that was well outside the hole. She is bummed that she has to go back to the grind tomorrow.

I'm not sure if I will get back out tomorrow or not. My one neighbor needed to borrow my enclosed trailer to haul a sofa and a different neighbor needs a couple trees knocked down. I may just spend the day with a chainsaw and possibly take in a late afternoon run to the house although last time that was a bust.

Hope you all have an excellent evening  Stay safe.

Good evening, Drifter_016 sorry I forgot you earlier today your calander is filling up with activities. Sometimes other things get in the way of fishing.
Icefisher-45 apologies for missing you also hope the two of you are both handling your medical issues well ,if the spinal tap is scheduled may the proceedure bring you relief from the headaches and other things you deal with on a daily basis.
Whopper Stopper thanks for the report and photo . Enjoy your dinner, Congratulations to the two of you on a good fishing trip. Hope you can catch a legal size walleye soon and see what they are feeding on is it normal for them to eat less during the Winter months.

Have a pleasant and safe evening every one.

Marv maybe you should give up on walleye and go fish sunnies and perch!!!!!
Steve I'm still trying to kick this flu bug. Probably should have stayed home last weekend as I think the workout made me weak and the virus took back over. Going to take it easy until I feel better so this thing doesn't linger into the nice spring weather.

Currently +12F with 20mph winds and a good dose of snow coming down.
The drive home rush was brutal!!!! It was bumper to bumper the whole way!!!!
Took me 11 whole minutes to make it home.

Dave...smart idea taking it easy for the weekend, best wishes kicking that bug!    Bumper to bumper traffic and an 11 minute ride home...gotta love it!
Marv...another good trip and plenty of pike to keep you both busy, congrats! One of these days those walleyes are going to be on the chew!      Have a safe day with the saws!
OS...looks like your weather will be here by the weekend, another warm up on the way...Doh!  :cookoo:
Steve...there now saying high 30’s and some upper 40’s for next week..got a suspicious feeling we’ll be outside for a while yet, lol, guess it keeps me acclimated anyway.  ;D  Sure has been a crazy winter so far.
Wally...the boat will be styling by the open water season!
Jeff, H2, I-45, Capt.J, Tom....hope you fellas are doing well.

Only about 100’ of sidewalks left to finish  in the area we’ve been working on...guessing we’ll find out today if that’s the end or more to go. Running short on time....Cawfee’s on!

                Good morning Eddie, ER's,
It's 5* here on my hill and ice is tightening. ::)
Just a quick post, I've been fishing the last 2 days and again today. :flex: Tuesday I was alone at Million Dollar Beach on Lake George. I hads
one flag a nice Salmon but lost it at the hole. I did catch some good sized Perch but there was a father and son about 10 years old near me that
couldn't get them to bite, so I gave the boy my Perch, you would have thought it was Christmas morning the way his eyes widened. Then yesterday
I went up to Bolton Landing on the lake and I hit the jackpot the Perch were on fire. As I dropped my lure the fish would swim up to meet it and
Some times slam it. I ended up with my limit of perch that the smallest was 10" and a few over 12" it was a great day. The wind was blowing out of
the northwest when I got there but changed to northeast which started eroding the ice since there was open water from the point of Green Island to
the west shore. I hope it calmed down over night because we're at it again today. I did meet a guy from Hopewell Jct. NY a IS member he goes by
Allfish, he hasn't seen our morning thread but he said he'll check in on us. Gotta get moving I'm meeting Jon in a little while.
I hope everyone has a good Thursday either at work or out on some ice.

Morning all,

MrC....thanks for the tip,I'll check it out  ;)

Eddie.....I'll bet the non-ice fishing guys at work would MUCH prefer not staying acclimated to the cold  :nono:  :roflmao:

Drifter....hope you can shake the flu bug once and for all  ;)

OS....we've done pretty good on the east end of Erie from mid June thru Sept   we usually try to get out there at least a couple days each month over the summer  @)

WS.....what a fun day  :icefish:    MrsWS needs to think about joining us retired folks, no more going back to "the grind"  ;)2

IW....Congrats on some great days  :flex:  :icefish:   kudos for giving the Dad and son the perch

A cold night last night, 8* now  too bad we have ANOTHER warm up coming thru starting this weekend  ::)  one step forward, two steps back  :-\

6* degrees this morning. If anyone sees my 1st post let me know, it is out there someplace.
IW, sounds like you have found the perch. Be Safe.
Yesterday morning I had to go for blood work for an upcoming Dr. appt, the wife had a temp cap put on a tooth that broke off and then she had to go to Albany for a check up. I stayed home waiting for some meds that have to be signed for. They called at 4pm and they are coming today.
Have a good day....h2l

Good morning everyone

Warm up heading our way with temps in the 40's over the weekend. One year ago today it was -28.

Eddie hope today is the wrap for your out door work for awhile, there has to be better fashions indoors

IW good luck on the ice today :icefish: Good going on making the little guys day

WW The one step forward, two steps back weather patterns can make a person:%$#!: Any boat names making the top 5 list ???

mr.clean walleyes normally eat well through the winter. On my up north walleye lake the bite goes all day. There are some days when you mark them and they have lock jaw but for the most part they keep you busy. I have no idea what is going with with the tankers in this lake, but I'm not ready to give up on them.

I have about 3 hours before I need to go across the street. I have a lamp that needs a new socket so I will head to Menards when they open and get that taken care of.

Hope you all have an excellent day  Stay safe.

Good Morning ER's hope all are well. Drifter take it easy your trip probably took a lot out of you. My little trip is still doing a # on me pushed the body to hard. Mr. Clean the line is great have used some before. That style comes in 8 oz, 12 oz, 1 lb. and 1.5 lb. it's on sale now at your bobbers down for other styles but at good prices. IW glad you slammed the perch. WW looking forward to see what additions are added to your new ride. Eddie I've been thinking about the what would I do different and go find shallow water as I think I could have eliminated interference. I have not tried a newer palm rod but early on IS there was a guy Sullymon who helped me ID a very short rod with a retractable spring bobber. Hope everyone has a great day. Marv don't work to hard your retired remember.

Good Morning Everyone,
17* and calm this am, high of 36 today.

Jeff...way to go making that young boys day a memorable trip, that’s awesome!   Congratulations on finding some good sized perch and limiting out...SuperBowl fish fry? Good luck today if you’re heading back for another round!
Wally...no doubt, some of the guys just don’t “acclimate” very well. :roflmao:  Warmer environment for them coming up soon..we were told Tuesday will be the opening day of terrazzo.   ;D
H2... hope everything went well for both you and your wife yesterday!   Saw a picture of another shanty falling through the ice on the reservoir yesterday.
Marv...how did the tree job go? Guess one nice thing about retirement is picking and choosing the jobs you don’t mind doing. Good luck today if you’re heading back to the lake!
OG...thanks for sharing the info, appreciate it!     Now you have my curiosity on that short rod with the retractable spring bobber...how do you like it?

Another workweek almost in the books, looking forward to clocking out today!
Somebody dropped the ball and didn’t order concrete in advance for today, so the earliest it could be sent was noontime, lol. Unfortunately that wouldn’t work, so the guys who have a problem “ acclimating “ were quite happy!    :roflmao:
Any predictions for the SuperBowl?  SanFran...31. Chiefs...20...those are my square numbers anyway...Cawfee’s on!
Have a great day all, be safe, best of luck to those fishing!

Good morning Eddie!

28 with a light dusting of snow just enough to grease the road up a bit. They are still talking mid 40's over the weekend.

Eddie hope the day flies by, hope next week will be a warmer environment. Both quarterbacks are class acts, it could be a shootout.

The tree work went well, other than the lady of the house was a worry wart. The guy wants to clean up as I go so I will have 2 more days over there.

I am off to Shamu today. Depending on what I find I will decide whether to pull it off or not, it's going to be a sloppy mess when the warm weather gets here.

Hope you all have an excellent day  Stay safe.
