I had a co worker fish it this year, sorry in advance for not much detail, but there was a ton of ice where he went. He didn't catch a fish and he didn't mark a fish either. Not sure this helps, but I guess from that I wouldn't bother fishing it during hard water.

Carp fishing Toston is the most fun I've ever had with a fly rod. It might be worth the trip to get one through the ice. Don't know if they eat in the winter.

When do you usually target carp on the fly? Right after ice out?

I didn't target them, just pulled off there to camp under the truck topper one night on a long work trip. Always have the rod along so I threw some bugs for trout before breakfast. Not many trout rising, but the carp were slurping the surface sludge. Caught some.  ;D

It was probably late June, and they quit eating when the sun hit the water. Been meaning to go back.

Sounds like a good place to get the bow fishing bow out and stick a few carp.
