Pounded the first holes in deadman today!  The salmon are healthy.  Starting to change color, but not turning yet.  Jigged up a lot of aggressive younger males at first and then snagged some spawners later.  Oh yeah and............7" of ice!!

The ice is really rough.  You can tell they had some wind as it was freezing.  Especially jagged on the edges.  Not a lot of snow though.  I was west of the dock, but I don't think it matters. I've never had a problem catching a limit anywhere on the south shore.  It's all about attracting them to you.

A few feet deep is all. Gotta be able to see bottom. Some of the females get to be 18" or so, couple-few pounders.

well we had a good day at deadmans today.the ice is real ruff and it is hard to find a decent spot to set up a pop up ice house but we got it done.me and buckshot iced a good amount but not 2 full limits.we also caught 3 suckers and 7 rainbows.there were a few real large fish that went past the hole to, I am going to guess it may have been some decent browns.i would say there is a good week maybe 2 of decent fishing left before it is all done.weather was decent with a high of about -7 but no wind.overall it was a great day.we will post pics later.

I went out yesterday with a couple of buddies right off the boat ramp and ended up with 80 salmon at the end of the day. There was a dead spot of about an hour around and it really picked up around 2:00 overall it was a god day

My buddy drove his white ranger and we were in my big black cabelas shelter right off the ramp. I wouldve posted but it kind of a last minute change of plans from the tongue. The salmon stayed under us all day it was a blast, but I've had my fill there for the year too. I'm thinking Cooney next week as I have to be back to town next Saturday night for the company Xmas party. Maybe we could meet up there and I can ice my first walleye there

Has anyone ever iced a tiger out of there? Or are they pretty much inactive?

Can anyone explain how your catching the salmon please. I've never ice fished them and would like to give it a try before it gets too late.
Thanks

Look on the previous deadmans thread and the deadmans basin reports and conditions page there's been a few explanations on how to snag. The snagging is good right now so good luck
