Deadsticking Two fatheads hooked thru the lips on one treble hook. Sometimes adding a maggot on the third tyne just for theatrical continuity. Seriously, this was devastating back home on the St.Croix, but I haven't fished enough live bait waters here in MT to test the rig. 1/2 oz Crippled Herrings with crawler half on dropper hook and Glow Perch pattern Hali with minnow head have produced some at times.

i like jigging raps or chubby darters tipped with a minnow head. Sometimes a buckshot with a full minnow is the ticket and then sometimes a small hali tipped with a minnow head, maggot or piece of perch skin is the ticket, it depends on the fishes mood. Those choices are pretty much in order of how active the fish are. If I'm not getting hits on the jigging raps or buckshot I go with a smaller, less intimidating hali and often that produces. Plus side is that perch also respond well to the hali.
