What is the best flasher with zoom to buy? I currently have a Vex FL12 and have been wanting to upgrade to something with a zoom for a few years now. Any suggestions?
-
I had an FL12 and upgraded to FL20 (kept the FL12 for my girlfriend who kept stealing it!). They are both great units but the zoom is nice when you're targeting fish on the bottom. I haven't had a chance to use any of the other units.

Vexilar FL 18 ...6 foot bottom zoom
FL 20....bottom 6 or 12 foot zoom
FL 22....bottom 6 or 12 foot zoom
FLX28...bottom 6 or 12 foot zoom.
Marcum LX5 ....adjustable zoom
your current Vexilars transducer can be used on current models ...just a option to be considered

of all the units out there, i think the lx5 has the best zoom. even over the digital units. with SFL i feel like i'm not even in zoom mode.
-
I like the Humminbird zoom on my 45. I can zoom in and adjust it anywhere in the water column.

Lx6 and 7 and 9
5 ft zoom anywhere

I think you can actually change it to 10 as well.

Talking zoom
Was reading on lx5 Says infinite adjustable so what's that mean
Can you Zoom in to a 2 or 3 foot column
I can see 5 ft of water on lx7
How many feet can you see on a lx5 or min foot
My wife uses showdown not bad but after certain depth zoom goes to 10 foot
After certain depth of water (which sucks) let me know if this can be over come please

I have an LX6 and have it set to a 10ft zoom that can be set to any range when fishing deeper than 10ft, really comes in handy on suspended fish in deep water

The MarCum LX5 can have either a 5 ft or 10 ft zoom range displayed on the 'left' half of the flasher screen, and can be moved anywhere (incrementally up or down) within the water column ... so I suppose that is what would be considered 'infinitely adjustable'.
-
LX6(7-9) you can also chart zoom simultaneously with vertical zoom and whole column on, and pick your zoom areas. Zoom zoom.

Thank you 5 ft is min water column in zoom

marcum lx6/7/9
Just set the zoom depth for 5, 10, 20,
or 40 feet above the bottom, and then set the Zoom Window to the size that is
appropriate.
The LX-7 also features “Chart Zoom” which enables you to use a scrolling
graph in Zoom mode. Activate the Chart Zoom in the Display Options of the
menu.

IMO zoom on a Humminbird is horrible. It's not even a zoom, it's a magnifying window is all.

agreed!
it takes half of the water column display for it too and only one display to view for every thing.
i sure don't miss using my hb ice-55.
the marcum lx5i had the better of the zooms (between the two) by far!

Humminbird units definitely don't impress me especially their zoom after having used Marcum Lx5 and lx6
