yeah,
my gal loves to go out with me in the warmer months, but she doesn't want anything to do with the ice.

for starters, why dont you just have her layer up real good and throw on some cheap snow pants?  are you bringing a shanty or shelter of some sort?  i would wait to see if she likes it before dropping any serious coin on high end clothes.
just my thoughts

I have to agree with grumpymoe what is your secret?  My wife won't step foot out the door if it is below 40 degrees unless I warm up the car/truck for 20 minutes first.

I am not sure what you should get her to wear but you want to make sure it is warm what ever it is.

My wife wears Columbia bibs with a Columbia 2 piece parka, and Sorel felt paks on her feet with wool socks.  Warm as one can get, besides being in vogue for style.  We fish in some fairly cold weather up here in northern Alberta.

You are really lucky  to have the wife go out with you on the ice , i'd give anything for that to happen for me , wait - i know , how bout if i place a diamond ring on the end of my ice rod and lead her onto the ice , kinda like a carrot hanging in front of a horse ?

I found  great bibs in JR Graham catalog. My wife uses them for every outdoor sport - Sking, snowmobiling, fishing. SnoRider is the brand, only thing they are $100.00 & up! They have a removable backside for those long days away from all amenities!

That's almost as bad as getting your wife into golfing!!!!!! Kidding....
Fishing is my sport......my stress relief, my shopping, my time.

I'd just have her wear what she normally would out in cold weather (she must have some cold weather gear if you live in it). I would just make sure her feet don't get wet and cold....once that happens you might as well pack up and go home!!!

You need to start selling whatever product made your wife want to start ice fishing with you!!!  You'd be a rich man

On the flip side of the coin it is nice to just go out with the guys and fish for the day.
Either way wife or not its good to be out on that ice

Nate be a real nice guy and just take your lady to your favorite Gander Mountain, Cabalas or Pro Bass store and let them fix her up with the right clothing. She will love you forever...:)...GB

I got my girlfriend an over sized pair of carthart overalls, and she loves them. Even though it is funny to see her wabble around on the ice in them, it leaves her enough room to bundle up what ever she wants underneath if needed.  Plus coveralls are so much easier to get into in my opinion!  And make sure she has some warm boots!! ;D--Kevin

i suppose i will go with the columbia bibs idea

i am planning a pilgrimage up to dundee in the near future so that will be on the list

as to how i can get my wife on the ice is i have the privilage of fishing some great ponds where the gills are big and fish bite, plus the shappell 4000 also helps.

geez i would need halve to break the piggy bank for sure for all that.
I got my girlfriend out backcountry camping this year where its gets pretty cold. She was happy 98% of the time. I found the secret was to make sure she wasnt wet or cold. A well placed tarp and propane heater werent that much extra work to pack in but made her snug as a bug.
She is now bugging me to take her winter camping and fishing. I'm still trying to figure out how to do it. ???

NAD,
The wife doesn't have a single sister however she does have an 'evil' twin. You just never know when she is going to be around. :-[
