About two months out...

Next week we’ll be two months out from the average first ice.  In early October I try to snag one of the ice fishing mags to read in the wall tent while elk hunting.  That’s my ritual pre-game before venturing high looking for the frozen stuff.  Anyone else feel it right around the corner?

For sure...Elk/Deer tags in hand after the left over's went on sale.  Doves right around the corner.  5 Day fishing trip scheduled for North Park in Mid September.  All of my favorites come on pretty quick once September hits.

Got a new cz 452 22lr that I’ll be taking out for grouse and ptarmigan next month.  I already had my elk/deer tags but the leftover online sale was not kind to me for antelope and a list b cow tag.

Thanksgiving is about the earliest I've been out here.  Normally its about two weeks after thanksgiving.

Never went higher than 10500 feet but found some pretty early ice on the Grand Mesa in November. This is November 3 2013.

I hope ice is earlier this year, and the Polar Express is kind to us! I’d like to hit up some high lakes since my “new” knee is healed and functional. I know we need a lot of snow this winter, but COME ON ICE!!!!

 leaves are starting to colour up  and the geese are heading south.  high of 11c this weekend, folks are covering their tomatoes...won't be long!!!

Looks like a lot of folks from Colorado responding. I guess it is because this summer has been brutally hot. Only 91 today here when it has been mostly in the 100's.

 I remember that also. Learned to ice fish on 11-mile in 1988. Always hit it weekend b4 thxgving.   Used to ice fish Lake John on Veterans day many times. Oh well I just get to fish open water longer!

NE WI is usually early December for safe ice. There's been years I've ice fished the gun/deer opener the 3rd weekend in Nov, but that's extremely iffy.

We are about 3 months out normal. But right after Thanksgiving is always a possibility here. 76 more days. It's coming.

Finally it has been cooling off nice at night, several nights now down in the 40's(f) almost hit upper 30's(f) one night last week. Leaves are really starting to turn color now. Just about all my apples have fallen from the trees.
