Does anyone have any of these? They are a box trap that has a small heater in them (ultra pure lamp oil) and the hole never freezes and keeps the 4 D batteries warm. This unit jigs for 30 seconds and then shuts off for 30 seconds etc or you can have it jig consistantly. I have a few of these from Craigslist and they are amazing. Sometimes we fish places where dead bait is required and they out perform a regular trap by far. Even with live bait they will out perform the other traps. They are quick to set up and simply do their thing. They are hard to find, as the man who made them stopped, but some guy in Wisconsin still has some who knows this guy. They are expensive new around $90.00, but you can used as I did online. People always come up to you and ask about them and want to look at them. The reviews are mostly positive. I just was wondering if anyone else owned these. They are a lot of fun.

My dad has one of these and its pretty awesome. He likes it because he doesn't need to get too far away from the cooler as often because you don't have to tend it that much ;D
-
You should post a picture of one.

google them online with the word craigslist in it and one name should pop up. I will take a look and get the guys number. You won't be disappointed. They are really amazing and work very well. Minus 20 up to Moosehead and he holes never freeze. My friend brings a cordless drill with a nut driver on it and winds up his line quickly with his drill. There is a nut on top of the T on the top of the trap which holds the spool inside. We disconnect the wire on the light to save batteries. Four D batteries will get us through the season. I have a set of 5 now and they are awesome. Sometimes with the kids we get sick of the flags and just put a hook down the hole with no bait, as they are happy to snowmobile, play etc.

The guy is from Appleton Wisconsin, but the posting from Craigslist was deleted on Nov 20, 2010. There was still some out there from the man that invented them earlier this year.
-
I've got one, a good friend gave it to me when he passed away. I'll be using it this year. Didn't have it in time to use it last year. Its a real cool rig.
-
If anyone finds them for sale online can you post it I checked out google and seems like they are all sold out. I would like to get one or two to see how they work.
-
Try Maverick Manufacturing at 920-446-2703. I think it may be some guy named J Sorcic. They may have some or know the guy you could buy them from. I remember speaking to them and they had some left last year. You will really enjoy them.

I have 2 of these and they work great. We fish in -20 regulerly and with the little oil lamp holes dont freeze and all works great. I also got an extra oil lamp with each as they only last about 5 hours. I have used tea candles also with success and the batteries do last all season. They make a jigger for hard sides as well im going to check out this year..spendy but save your pennies and get one worth the money..

Was just at Old Town Trading Post. They had 6 new in box. $119.95 each. They're sweet, and I'd love to have one, but that much is a bit much for me.

Because I regularly ice fish a lake that has very high potential of an Illinois record Muskie and Walleye I figured out a way to use a rod and reel with these HEATED AUTO JIGGING tipups. You can see the video showing the set up and full operation by going here:
When I was younger I landed a 40" 18 1/2 lb. Pike by hand on a tip up and it is very tense and has a high potential of losing the fish without the give of a rod and drag of a reel. Now I am looking forward to hooking a giant with this set up. So far 2 days with 2 setups both rigged with 10" plus herring and still waiting for first monster. I just hope someone else is close by to use my camera to video it so I can share the moment. Lance.

:-\ I know this is an old posted topic. I'm new to this forum, so I'm not even sure it will be seen as an updated "reply" or post. I have just acquired some Finicky Fish Factory traps and would like some advice from anyone that has them.
What is the best way to set trip for jigging arm? small bobber? or???
What is the best way to bank the trap... all four sides? What is the best setting for back side vent for burning oil lamp? or candle in glass cup, which apparently I've been told some use? Any advice or instructions how these best work, would be helpful. O primarily fish for trout, salmon and togue (lake trout).
-
pack snow around the box. you don't have to vent. I use a slip knot. little bobber will work. the 30sec delay works the best.
-
If that thing went off around me I would get on my sled and run it over to make it stop. That is just ridiculous.
-
and anything w/ electronic jigging i believe is illegal in maine. read it in the regs somewhere.
