No one fishing south end yesterday.  Access at Brown's looks shot.  At Fitch road there were a number of guys out, access looks OK still.

Any word on how much ice is left on the lake... Plan on heading to the lake tomorrow afternoon.  Thanks!

Went swimming this morning at Fitch - broke the board that was bridging the gap from shore to ice - soaked to my B__hole - my fishing partner, who's 40#'s lighter than me, was already out on the lake so after going home for dry clothes, I went back with a bigger plank to get him off - left the plank, but I won't be using it.

Few years back I remember walleye fishing in the Lund just before the season closed when it was 80 degrees and there were mosquitoes out.  It was like a boat parking lot in front of the Kaydersosseras that year :o

Better get there before the season closes in 5 days....

It would be a shame to actually leave them alone for once..

Last year the walleye numbers at Toga were strong with lots of smaller fish so it's looking a lot more promising that it was a few years ago.  That's despite guys pounding them in the creek before the season.   I'm usually the last boat on the water night fishing in December right before it freezes and I was shining a surprising amount of eyes in shallow which was more than I've seen in a few years.

One guy out off Fitch yesterday.  Not sure how he got out, perhaps ice around shore is thick enough for daredevils.

There's still lots of ice but not around the edges.  I haven't checked off Fitch since Monday it might be possible to get on there but be careful.  The new snow will make gauging the ice thickness difficult and hazardous.  Fish creek is largely open.  South end is a no go without a boat to get to the ice.

Saw 1 guy off of Fitch Road Sunday afternoon at 3 PM. Envied him. Looks like a late iceout this year.

With the upcoming cold spell this week, Figured id bump this back up to the top for the season. I Would absolutely love to be able to sneak onto Lonely next Monday if everything breaks right with some favorable ice conditions. I know its an outside chance but one can hope!

Fished Toga Saturday and Sunday night with the boat for eyes and the water temp was 38 so it won't take much to make some ice.  The lake is the highest I can remember for this time of year.  Last December you could barely float the boat out of the ramp with the motor down and this year it's way up.

I'm planning on taking a trip up there the last weekend in December/New Years.  What are the chances Toga has fishable ice by then?

I dunno. Watch the weather. That’s your answer. Temps go back up after this few day cold spell.  Back into the 40’s next week.

I like the odds this year for that timeframe but like you say you never know

I'd say based on the last 10 years its about a one in three chance to be fishing before New Year's.

South end was skimmed over this morning, a lot of geese standing around on the ice around Brown's.

Got onto lonely today. About 3" of crystal clear ice everywhere i checked. Didn't have the success i would have liked, skunked unfortunately, but it still felt awesome to get on so early in the year. Had a slew of tip ups out and was bouncing around jigging for some crappies. Lets hope that the upcoming forecast isn't too hard on it.

I appreciate the feedback ;)

I ordered an ice fishing pole for a baitcaster reel, and they shipped me 5 of them.  If anyone is in need of one, I'd be willing to share in exchange for some helpful info throughout the season :)  30 inch medium action.
