It was nice to see that you got out.
I'm in Erie and Crawford counties this week for work.  ARTHUR and Wilhelm had a skim of ice in some of the coves.  A lot of farm ponds capped over.  But no one was gonna try ice fishing yet.  You could tell that they had a allowable snow up here last week.  GEESH-  I mowed the lawn at my house last week.
BTW- no water in the creeks up here.  Not many steelhead in.

This is probably a dumb question considering the weather we've been having in central Pa,  but are you still thinking about fishing this Sunday ?

LOL! It could be 90° out and some of these guys would be planning an ice trip! With all the cold we will be getting and how much it "looks" like winter, I'm sure there will be guys walking on water somewhere. Be careful if you go out guys, be prepared and bring your spud.... and maybe a dingy ;D

Hey I'm always "thinking about an ice fishing trip" but don't see one in the immediate future. Reminds me of the bit about a collection agency calling and asking when they could expect a payment. The reply was they could "expect" payment any time. That said the forecast for elevation looks good at least; I'm hoping the phone rings for next weekend at least.

Amazing how now that I have a deer on ice - my mind immediately goes to this kind of ice.  Simply can not wait.

Stopped at Tobyhanna again tonight on the way home from deer camp.
Couldn’t see the entire lake, but it was ice as far as I could see. 21* there at 6pm. Checked with spud bar at launch and it was 3”. Did not walk out on ice, but I’m betting by Sunday morning it will be fine, at least in the cove by launch. Gonna be 20’s at night the next couple days and Fri/Sat nites in teens.

Congrats Captain! I don’t have a deer on ice yet, and I am thinking about how to combine a deer hunt AND ice-fishing outing!  ;)

Saturday’s high is supposed to be 29* so I might deer hunt for a few hours in the AM, ice-fish mid day and hunt the last couple hours if needed.  ;D

That should get the job done for you.  I love the magnum calibers and my pet rifle is my .338-378 Weatherby Magnum.

Thanks guys- I LOVE this rifle- very accurate(especially at long range) and with the muzzle brake it doesn't kick at all. It is a pleasure to shoot! Now I know why the 6.5 is such a popular caliber.

That's the Ruger American in GO WILD camo. Also has Ceracote on the barrel.

Here's a short review if you're interested:

Anything that had ice in my area( luzerne county ) is all gone after this morning and this rain. One pond was half ice when I left for work, on the way home it was less than slush .

yeah... this rain has set us back a week or 2. It's most likely going to have to start all over again. Now I'm just hoping I don't have to wait until the new year.

Lakes are still capped this morning in Pike Co, but not sure how thick the ice is now. And after a few days of cold temps, the weekend looks warm again, so probably not gonna be back on the ice for awhile. Glad I got my "fix" twice already!  ;D

All next week looks great for the northern tier. I’d imagine that by Thursday or Friday it’ll be solid up that way.

Local pond in Northampton county has a skim of ice across it. Hopefully by next weekend we’ll be out there.

Its has not looked good here in the south east. Its been roller coaster weather again so far. Cold a couple days. Then it warms up with rain & rain & more rain. Then its windy & cold 3 days . It's just so depressing. We don't seem to have winters like we used too !!
