Fellow Iceheads,
My wife and I take annual trip from Christmas thru the new year.
We have always gone to a particular location in Northern Michigan ( for security purposes i have omitted where) and is where we were married on the ice last season.
Due to the weather they are receiving in that area, it is highly possible that it will not be safe ice for us this year :'(
We are looking into making an alternate location / Plan B if you will.
I know nothing of Iowa, could some of you provide what area of Iowa is in good shape ice wise?
General locations are fine - looking to save our trip / anniversary
Any other information is helpful.
Thank You

No ice in central Iowa. Maybe someone up north will chime in for that area...but we had rain pretty much all day yesterday that turned to snow in northern Iowa. Ice conditions have been hit or miss. Not sure how the rain affected the edges up in the northern part of the state. Good luck and be safe.

Last I heard was north west the igl okiboji and surrounding was losing out pretty bad they got a lot of rain as said before and on another post I guy said it was getting sketchy when he was leaving the ice day before last I'd say next closest would be north but I don't check other states to know for certain South Dakota just had a bunch of rain to snow but Had 10-12" before it came so I'm sure you could find some fishing there

100 miles north. Be best bet. I've. Got a buddy been fishing central mn for past 3 weeks
I'm heading to Devils on Friday. Will post pics

Okoboji had people fishing today. 4-6" but wet. If it gets cold enough it will be solid by weekend. Anglers bay on spirit was much better for ice.
