My buddy heaters have been good to me.
I just clean the pilot once a year or so with rubbing alcohol and they work good.
Tried the sunflower heaters and never again will I use one.
Burned holes in stuff and broke one off when it fell over.

I like the sunflower heaters for anything but a one man. It's a heater it's hot don't touch stuff to it, although some people can't handle doing that so we have buddy heaters

I also had a sunflower heater they put out great heat, BUT as hard as I tried not to burn anything I had a hole burnt through the shack wall and also ruined a nice jacket sleeve in short order.

Stick with a buddy.  In my opinion, the sunflower heater/cookers are dangerous (no low oxygen shut-off or tip-over protection). Plus, if you don't wind up dead from CO poisoning, you'll probably burn a coat or side of your hub with the danged thing.

;D Hmm.... The Mr. Heater heater/cooker units work great for my QF3. I use my Big Buddy in my 27ft camper with excellent results. Only problem is it seems the heater/cooker has a bigger appetite than the Big Buddy heater! Someday I'll get that 5lb bottle! Stay safe everyone and MERRY CHRISTMAS.

I wouldn't be doing much fishing if I had one of them for a heater in my hut.   ;D

Don't want to hijack this thread, but a quick question....

I recently went with some of your advice and bought a buddy heater with a great deal from gander. When it came, there was a small screw loose and rolling around in the heater. Is this normal for unboxing the unit for the first time? It was unwrapped and I am concerned that this was someone elses return that they just shipped to me.... Thanks for any insight you guys can give me

A buddy of mine bought a wood burner for his hub. Its great for heat as well as cooking. Downfall is needing to haul extra wood out, cutting a hole in his roof for the smokestack, and needing to add wood fairly often which is no big deal during the day, but we do frequent overnighters and if he don't feed it every couple hours he has to get it going again. Personally to me its more of a pain but it is an option rather than a Buddy heater. I thought I had a pic of the stove but can't find it.

Any pictures and size diamentions for the wood burning stove??  was thinking of building one the size of a .50 cal  ammo can and running the stove pipe boot etc..  out a window or buying a cabelas shanty with a sky light?? But will see??  Was thinking of making it a wood pellet stove cause pellets cost $5 for a 40#bag.. might run 3 or four bags a week end??
