It's raining pretty hard near Gouldsboro now and this afternoon they're calling for 1 to 3 inches or 3 to 6 inches of snow depending on which weather report you listen to, and then it's supposed to go down into the teens overnight.  The best case scenario with this would be we get the 1 to 3 inches of snow, it soaks up all the rain, then freezes overnight and during the day tomorrow.  That'll put a build up some ice and give us what looks like some borrowed time for the season.  No matter how it plays out I wouldn't be going anywhere on the ice without spudding my way around.

I agree Chris! With all the water on the ice, it will saturate whatever snow we get and it is supposed to be a quick freeze up later this afternoon. Should be good by morning. Probably won't even need a smitty sled.

I'm headed to Perkins for the tourney. Heard it had 10" of ice on Wed. First time doing a tourney. Supposed to be a good one!

The ice held up surprisingly well this weekend. I went to Upper Woods yesterday. I was there a week before(on Sunday 2/2) and measured 4” of ice. Yesterday I did not expect to see more ice than last weekend! But I measured almost 5” yesterday.

It’s a different world up there, though! Holes were freezing over all day and it was snowing most of the morning. It was 28* when I left at 1:30 pm and by the time I got to Hawley it was 32* and no snow on the ground.

I got a text from a buddy that lives in Pleasant Mount this morning that it was snowing heavy and he had almost 6” (new) snow on the ground at mid morning. I checked the radar because we only had 1/2” of snow and it had already  changed to rain when I left Milford at 6am.

Tourney was last Sat. I woke up sick so I didn't go. But my buddy went and caught a 13" crappie. But got beat out for biggest panfish with a 13.5" trout! Not supposed to be any trout in there and we're still trying to figure out how a trout counts as a panfish!  ;) ::)

Was at Tobyhanna this afternoon, lot's of fisherman on 5-6inches ice. Saw one big pickerel flopping on the ice and many smaller ones returned. I didn't fish only seeing what was good.

Checked some smaller ponds in the Newfoundland area and all were only 2-3 inches of smokey ice.  FT
