I cut out the ends of the box so i could use 1 inch strapping and bend and also close the lid,to hold a milk box and my motor.I have a 6 inch auger an8 inch awger and a 10 inch awger depending on ice conditions  we still have 17 to 18 iches of good ice up here

yeah, i found out about the deep snow at the dead sea. i saw a few guys get a good laugh at me trying to pull it though 18" of snow. i decided, after about 15 minutes to get my heart rate under 500, that i needed 8" of clearence. a word to the wise, your sled looks a little tall. as i stated, i cut my first sled down by a foot, after dumping my bait on the ice. ever see a guy cut a hole in three seconds with a hand auger though 12 inches of ice?lol also, you'll have to hang on in a good wind. mine gets sideways in a good wind on slick ice. ;D

Post some pics Gamedog would like to see it.I don't see why you couldn't adapt the spring hitch to a quad. It's just supposed to take some shock out of the start and stop and I don't think I'd run without it.

ok. last bunch.
custom European birch handles.

knife and sounder holder...i mean knife sheath.

freezeproof minnow net and satellite bucket, main bucket stays on the sled, and how rope handle is secured.

bait bucket holder system. i need a bigger handle back there to pin the bucket better.

inside sled.

dimensions are overall length is 48". box is 32". width is 19". height is 14 1/2 ". divider is 23 x 10 x 6" high.
PVC on rope is free sliding, for a good grip and turns.

of coarse i will tinker with it as always. ;D

Pooley, I think your most recent one is sort of what I'm looking for. I'll be sure to get a start to finish series of pics as I go along.

Who else has pics?

Love the bullhead!  me as well especially the little black ones with white bellies . Its sort of funny how life goes I was watching a program this evening on  STAR-CHOICE called wing over CANADA and they fished the ChurchHill River blindfolded people on the trip ,They fried up pike and piceral or what we call wallete(they are of the perch familly) Well the pike one out 4 to 2 no crap.
I dont use handles on my box or lid I use the lide to hold my shelfer ???Made a couple of modifications tonight also wish to try your idea with the rod holders  but thats going to have to wait till wendsday. Heading for HOWE ISLAND 5 in the am going after walleye and northern mike and the odd Muskey..
Also working on downriggers for my small alluminum boat 12 footer just for the back lakes I dont like the 3/8 inch stainless rods for booms ,got to change that to 5.8 alluminum ,,now i am not sure how to hang the wheels>>>OH well ill figure something out  HAPPY EASTER to all and happy fishin guys

No, there only about 1/4 inch below the skis (they spin on the snow) and when you hit ice patches it helps it roll. It will roll fast enough to catch up to you.

After a few failed attempts at building a downhill ski based sled, I built this one based on another members sled. It pulls sooooo easy on the ice. My only problem is, this year I bought a 583 Skidoo to pull my gear out, and I don't think the sled will hold up on the trail.

I've had this little sled for 10 years or so. It suites me for short trips.
