Can anyone recommend a place to stay near clear lake? Is there anywhere that has a place for fish cleaning?
That's why is called "fishing" and not "catching".

The best western is a nice place and has fair rates for off season plus its only 2 miles from the lake.

Quite the population explosion on the little lake this weekend. We're gonna need street signs if this keeps up.

It would be nice to see everybody release the Perch. We kept a few the other day and there isn't much meat on them.  If they could make it one or two more years we would have a great Perch Fishery. Most of the White Crappie are 9-10" Its a lot of fun to catch fish other than Yellows.  We fished 15 ft.

We're sitting on 10" of ice and have found as little as 7" when moving around.  Be careful if you're driving out.

13 to 16 inches in most areas it seems. One of them beast diesels will be the first ones to find the seven inches.

I need to get up and fish there.  Some guys from work are on the north shore line putting rocks on the shores.  They said it has been pretty busy up there as far as people fishing.

We were out last night too. Only until 6:00 but we got about 20 crappies and a half dozen perch. No giant sized but easily filleted size. I keep hoping to get on a good yellow bite. I'm going hunting down South this weekend and may move to the big lake off Farmers when I get back. I've always had good luck with the yellows close to the island.

Good fishing everybody!

Any reports from today???  I know it was super windy today but figured someone might have tried it.  Thinking about giving it a try tomorrow.

There was a LOT of people out on the little lake today. For me the bite was best around 2o'clock. There was a lot of slush in front of the boat ramp at Macintosh... It was freezing back up but still giving some people problems. My buddy had his front tire go through and got stuck... Had to have someone pull him out. Should be frozen back up tomorrow though.

Thanks for the info.  I think we are just going to walk out anyway.  Probably try the big lake then move to the little.

I fished Friday and Saturday evenings and did well on the Little Lake.  Fish weren't really hot, but I'd catch one every few minutes.  After 20 fish, I'd toss 'em back.  One keeper walleye (released) and lost one in the hole (long distance release?) Friday.  All crappies yesterday.  I was in 21 feet of water.  30 feet away was 14', and I caught one 3" perch.

I never really found a pattern that worked all the time.  I switched jigs often, and switched from wax worms, spikes, Gulp!, and minnow heads.  It seemed like every time I switched, I got fish for a while, then they cooled off.  I had planned to fish this morning, but slept in, and will cook Friday's fish for lunch.  Probably back out there tonight.  The ramp at MacIntosh is really slushy, but the ice is excellent.
Sometimes nothin' is a real cool hand!

In 20 fow, no bites.  Marked a few and caught a nice perch after two hours.  Hesitated to move but glad I did.  Moved to 15 fow and took home 12 nice crappies and marked a ton of suspended fish.  Very cold packing up and not really much wind.  Can't wait till tomorrow to hit er again!!! ;D
