11lb Propane Tanks
« on: Dec 06, 2008, 12:02 PM »
I was out shopping for an 11lb propane tank yesterday and our local suppliers only carry the upright type tanks. The tanks that are tall and thin as opposed to the pancake style tanks that are wider than they are tall. I had read somewhere on IS that you want the pancake style tank when it gets cold, had something to do with the surface area of the liquid propane gassing in cold temps. The local tanks are cheaper than ordering online when you include shipping and I wouldn't have to wait to get it. Do any of you guys on IS use the taller style propane tanks and how do you like them? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

I use a 6lb-er.  It's shaped just like the 20lb

I know that my dad in Kingsford has a pancake 11lber. I'll have to ask him where he got it. I have been looking for one as well but no luck as of yet.

What kind of heater do you have Mark?

I have a Dyna Glo "buddy" knock off. It works great, but I hate the cost of the disposable tanks and don't want to fuss with trying to refill them. I've got the hose and filter just need to pick up the tank.
