Did you have a question, or just sayin'?   ;D

I've heard red hooks work better.  Never tried them though.  It's hard to tell - can the fish even tell the difference?

I have a mix of colors this year, red, green, blue, silver, gold, glow in the dark, chartruese, orange,

Not sure it makes a difference but it hasn't seemed to hurt either, I tend to get more flags than people around me, but I attribute that to my superior angling skills  ;D  (Kidding)

I've been using red hooks since I started (not too long ago), but I seem to get more flags than those I fish with. Never thought about the hook color, but maybe that's what it is.

I've had good luck on my tip downs this year on orange and charteuse colored hooks and green have been alright
but orange has cashed in perch, crappies, walleyes, trout and pike. All tipped with crappie minnows.
The fishing is always great, the catching however, always isn't

I have tried diffrent colors and have found that red works great in clear water. I have also painted the shaft with glow in the dark orange and it picks up more walleyes at night. I think it toldly makes a diffrence.

I just bought a tip-up kit that had glow hooks in but i have not tried them yet.
I used glow jigs before but not glow hooks.

i started using red hooks so Icould see them.
i don't know if red makes a difference to the fish.
i use the high dollar gamagatsu light wire hooks for minnows. if not the color, their light weight and sharpness  seems to be an advantage. they cost .20 cents or so vs. .05 cents for regular hooks.

I have always used gold or red, but recently I have added colored hooks into some sets. Especially in tanic/stained water. I get the glow hooks and charge them up - it has seemed to make a difference.

Think I posted about this the other day. If red line becomes almost invisible in the water, doesn't the same happen to red hooks? If everything below 15'-17' turns black or brown, what benefit are red hooks? I could see in shallow water where the light penetration is enough to see different colors they might be of benefit. IMO I don't think the price is really worth it. Most times I have had the color wear off the hooks in no time. I too thought hey, red hooks on a shiner would tend to look like it was bleeding and therefore wounded and vulnerable. Just my .02 Anyone else have similar thoughts/experiences?

I don't know.  My question is if the water is stained, what difference does it make what color your hooks are?

i've had more luck going to flurocarbon leaders than using red hooks, but i have noticed some difference using red. experimenting is key!  ::)

I never really saw a lot of difference between red hooks and not on the days I experimented with them, but one day last winter I was fishing with a friend and it was a ba$tard of a day to say the least!!!! But I had rigged half of my tip-up leaders with "glow beads". They were just a small (soft plastic) glow bead that I bought at Gander Mt....I don't recall the brand..but any way, I slid 3-4 of these on the leaders before tying on the hooks which were baited with fathead minnows and I only rigged four of the tip-ups this way and left the rest with just the plain leader tied to the hook. We didn't catch a lot of fish that day....but as far as the tip-ups went we caught about 70% of the fish (mostly perch) on the leaders with glow beads. I put out 8 tipups so that we each had four and could still use a jigging rod. I definitely will try that again!!!.....WK

Last year I tried putting a small piece of red yarn thru the eye of my treble hook.  I frayed the ends.  seemed to work

I haven't tried any personally...but Maynard's Tackle (www.maynardstackle.com) sells "glow hooks" in a variety of glow colors. The price is kind of salty...$5.00 for ten hooks, but if that's what your lookin' for  :-\....WK
