19 mi bay
« on: Mar 19, 2021, 10:19 AM »
Havent been on at all this year but i wanted to give anyone heading to 19 mi bay area a warning.

12-16” of good ice everywhere, but....

Gaping pressure ridge from Chase Pt to East end of Whorttleberry Is. Open water, floating slabs, etc

Very hard to see until you are on top of it.

Please be safe!!

Paul

Just an update, the pressure ridge from Chase Point to Whortleberry Island is pretty hazardous.  It opened up more late in the day today.

I worked my way around it and was on the move quite a bit out beyond Sandy Island.   Sorry to say, it won't be long now as things are getting sketchy in some areas.  What a day!  Bluebird sky and marked fish in just about every hole.

Be careful after this week.

Yup, the end is coming AA.  I'm gonna close out my season next Sunday with one more trip on the big lake.  We will lose a fair amount of ice this week but I am still hopeful.

Might squeeze in an early April trip to another pond, but once the shores go, so do my options.

Haven't had to plank in years, and I'm not looking forward to the possibility of  having to again...
