Can anyone help me out?
« on: Dec 27, 2011, 08:18 PM »
I'm from northern Illinois. I'm really wanting to take a trip north this weekend. Can anybody recomend some  cheap cabins or lodging? I'm really looking for a place to stay within walking distance of fishing. Doesn't have to be anything nice, just a place to sleep. Thanks

Drive right past Madison because there isn't much for ice here. Not sure what to tell ya elsewhere, lots of small motels in WI, good luck.
We'll take any nibbles we get.  Jigging mostly.

If you want good ice that isnt questionable I would at least go as far north as Stevens Point if not farther. I have ice here near Portage but it gets kinda ify.

Do you know of any cheap cabins or motels near some hardwater in  that area?

What are you looking to fish for?
The fishing is always great, the catching however, always isn't

I have stayed at Scott's Resort in Conover in the past. Fishing was good when i was there. No clue on the ice conditions you would need to call on that.http://www.scottsresort.com/

I'm looking towards Wausau. Can you reccomend a place to start fishing? Taking my wife and son now, so somewhere that they can catch a mess of panfish would be great.

Found a rooms at the super 8 in wausau for around $60. If anybody knows of a cheaper whole in the wall motel, let me know. The less it costs the longer i can stay. Also are there any areas that I can fish at night? Around where I live most parks close at dusk. Thanks again for all the help!
